An advisory model is a school advising structure that sets aside a period of time in the schedule for students to meet with an assigned teacher in a classroom (similar to a homeroom).  WHS continually seeks to improve the student experience and student learning outcomes. The staff at WHS is investigating the feasibility of an advisory period for our students.  As a parent and partner in this learning community, we value your opinion regarding the pros and cons of and advisory model.  While no decision has been made to move to an advisory model, we are collecting information.

Here is the link to the survey: http://goo.gl/forms/8Q6LHJH4jQ.

Please respond by March 18 for your input to be included in our data.

Thank you for your time and input!

COMMUNITY NEWS

Google is looking for High Schoolers!

Hi Parents!

Google is forming a co-design team and we are looking for teens who are excited about technology and design and who would like to help Google's User Experience Researchers evaluate and develop new technology for young users. Specifically, we're looking for volunteers, between the ages of 13 to 16, to participate in a 10 week study in Mountain View on the Google campus.

Co-design team participants will be encouraged to consider varying problems and participate in activities designed to encourage creative thinking and problem solving. For example, the co-design team might create prototypes using cardboard, styrofoam, pipe cleaners, and fabric scraps. Or, we might try out a new app and give feedback on how to improve it by writing or drawing our ideas on sticky notes. Participants will be asked to meet with Google's User Experience Researchers once a week on Thursdays, from March 3rd through May 5, 2016.

If your child may be interested in participating, please review the specific details below and get in touch as soon as possible - sessions are starting this week!
  • Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 16
  • The team will meet on Thursdays from 3:45-5:15pm, tentatively starting March 10th through May 28th.
  • Parents must be able to provide transportation for the teen to the sessions.
  • Only one child may participate from each family.
  • Volunteers should plan to attend a trial session to see if they enjoy the activities and are a good fit for the team.
  • Participation is completely voluntary and your child may withdraw from participation at any time.

Feel free to email with questions, we're happy to answer!
