UPCOMING

From Principal Burbank
WHS students deserve (and have come to expect) an educational experience beyond the one that public funding and resources can provide; examples of such opportunities and services are:
- citizenship scholarships,
- delicious and hot food at concession stands,
- bright new uniforms every three years,
- teacher tutors in The Den,
- intramurals at lunch,
- fabulous set designs for the musical,
- senior fashion show, and
- smaller class sizes and choices than district funding provides.
All of this and more have happened because of a ready parent volunteer force. I want to keep our volunteer force strong! Please accept an invitation to volunteer and assume a leadership position in these volunteer operations so YOUR student and OUR campus community can continue to benefit.

From Principal Burbank
Last week, I sent out a School Loop e-mail and sent a paper copy letter about meningitis exposure. I sent it to only those families whose students had been exposed to the meningococcal disease because of sharing a class with a student who was diagnosed. The exposure was limited, and I followed notification protocol under the direction of the San Mateo County Health Department and district nurses. If your student and your family did not receive any notification, your student was not exposed.
If you have questions, please call our school health office and speak to the nurse at x 40060.

WOODSIDE PARENT EDUCATION SERIES
"The Psychology of Technology: Parenting the Always-On Generation"
Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet and Erica Pelavin, My Digital TAT2
Thursday, February 25, 2016, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Woodside High School, Multi-Use Room (MUR)
199 Churchill Avenue, Woodside
How are teens using technology today? Our students are "digital natives" -- they have grown up in a world of online access and ever-changing media devices. Every parent knows that it's hard to keep up with kids and social media. How can you teach your teens responsibility and ethics online? What is the best way to parent the "always-on" generation?
Join Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet, PPSC, LCSW, Erica Pelavin, LCSW, PhD, from My Digital TAT2 for a highly interactive workshop on digital trends, psychological responses to social media, and the impact of social media on the adolescent brain. My Digital TAT2 has worked with over 14,000 students throughout the Bay Area. They recently formed focus groups of middle and high school students who support MDT2 and keep their work on the cutting edge, sharing student perspective and voice.
Parents, students, faculty/staff, and community members welcome! Spanish interpretation will be available. Free admission.
Woodside Parent Education Series events are sponsored by the Woodside PTSA, the Sequoia Healthcare District, and the Sequoia Union High School District.
Questions? Contact Charlene Margot, M.A., Director, The Parent Education Series, at cmargot@csmconsulting.net or (650) 868-0590. For Spanish, contact Maricela Lopez, Bilingual Parent Liaison, at (650) 367-7263 Ext. 45323.

Dear Friends and Families of the Class of 2017,
Since freshman year, parents and students have been raising money with socials, rummage sales, football and basketball concessions sales and cash donations from our 2017 class families to raise money for the Safe and Sober Grad Night party. THANK YOU for all you have done to support these activities!
We are more than half way to our goal, but we have only 1 ½ years to raise another $10,000 for this event to be similar to what previous graduating classes have held and to keep ticket prices affordable for the grad night party. We need your help to do it!
The fastest and easiest way to raise money is through a direct donation. You can mail, drop off or donate online to the Class of 2017. Please drop off donations at the Administration office or mail to 199 Churchill Ave. Woodside, CA, 94062. Make checks payable to WHS PTSA and note Class of 2017.
You can easily donate online using PayPal. Go to the Class of 2017 web page and donate there at: http://tinyurl.com/WHS17. It's very important to make sure you have noted that the donation is for the Class of 2017, otherwise the donation will go to the PTSA general fund.
Any amount is appreciated -- $25, $100 or more!!!! A donation of $250 or more gets your student a ticket to the Grad Night party.

New Sam Trans Routes
We have specific information from SamTrans' head planners on what they need to see before having the 278 bus from Farm Hill to Alameda to Woodside High School on weekdays. The vital thing they want to know is that at least 30 students would use the bus. If you have or will have a student who would ride the bus to Woodside, please add the number of students on this Sign Up Genius:http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0b45a5a62c7-asksamtrans.
Clearly, things change, but enter your best guess as to your family's ridership in the fall. And, please forward this information to other people you know who have or may have a student at Woodside who would take a SamTrans bus to/from school.
