VOLUNTEER The PTSA is a 100% volunteer organization. Our events and programs rely solely upon parents who can help to organize and execute our events and programs. Contact us at whsptsa199@gmail.com for volunteer opportunities.

Looking for a few good volunteers
We are gearing up for this year's annual Auction. The party will be Saturday April 30 followed by the opening of the on-line auction. We are searching for people to help with the auction. All kinds of talents are needed and most tasks can be done on your own time. We won't have many meetings, but we do have a brainstorming first meeting on Tuesday, September 29, 7pm, in the Wildcat Room (in the Administration Building, just off the drop-off circl) at Woodside HS. All are welcome to share ideas. Contact woodsideauction@gmail.com
Great Day for a Race!
Thanks to the many volunteers who helped at the Amazing Race on Saturday. It was a fantastic event followed by a great meal and party. Special thanks to the generous donations of Diane Martin, Bite Size Baking, and Ginger + The Bandits.

WOODSIDE PARENT EDUCATION SERIES
"Helping Young Athletes Reach Their Potential"
with Steve Smith, PhD, Palo Alto University
Thursday, October 1, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Woodside High School, Multi-Use Room (MUR)
How can parents support their children toward healthy participation in sports to facilitate a lifelong healthy lifestyle and to reach their potential? The balance between sports, academics, arts, and downtime can be challenging as families work to find what experiences will best prepare their children for the future.
In this workshop, Steve Smith, PhD, psychologist and professor of clinical psychology in the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium of Palo Alto University, will review current research and provide guidelines for parents and coaches to consider for healthy sport participation.
Prior to joining the faculty at Palo Alto University, Dr. Smith served as the consulting psychologist for the Division I Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at UC Santa Barbara. He maintains a private practice, Sport Psychology and Research Center (www.sparccal.com), where he works with school, club, and professional teams and athletes of all ages from across the nation.
Parents, students, faculty/staff and community members welcome! Free admission.
Spanish interpretation will be available.

Athletic Boosters Organization
For 2015-16 the Athletic Boosters Organization (ABO) is providing more than $46,000 in support of nearly every sport at Woodside High School! Every coach that made a request for new equipment or uniforms was allocated their needs for 2015-16. Click here to see how funding was allocated.
This kind of financial support is only possible through your support of the ABO. If have already joined the ABO or participated as a volunteer, thank you so much. If you haven't, the ABO has a simple request - become a member. Although the ABO could fulfill needs, there are still wants that require more resources. If we all pitch in and join forces we can ensure our student-athletes will have the equipment and resources necessary to be successful on any level.

Interested in being a mentor for a wildcat?
Want to make a difference in a teenagers life? Had a mentor that made an impact in your life? The Academy Programs at Woodside High School could use your help!
The Academy program is a small school environment which targets at-risk students. During their Junior year, students may request a Community Mentor that works with them on both academic & career goals. The students career interests are widespread from law enforcement and medicine to environmental planning and video game design.
I'm hoping that you, or someone that you know, might be able to participate in this program as a mentor. The commitment is approximately 2 hours per month, with most interactions via email and 4 face-to-face meetings over the course of the school year. The first meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 30th at 9am, and the program wraps up in early May.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
