And Friday is a fun day for our students: Club Rush is when your student can join a group of like-minded people. Encourage them to check it out. Also our first home Football game is Friday night. The concessions stand will be open. Follow the smell of the grill.

Shared Decision Making Council
Step Up and Apply to the Shared Decision Making Council (SDMC)
Shared Decision Making Council (SDMC) is a long standing feature (in its second decade!) of the shared leadership of Woodside High School. It merges Site Council with a larger decision making body of about 24 people comprised of students, teachers, staff, parents, one community member, and the principal. SDMC members commit to meeting twice monthly from 4 - 6 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays in the MUR conference room, with occasional date changes due to holidays. In addition to the meeting time commitment, there is occasional ad-hoc committee meetings that complete the work of school-wide initiatives such as The Big Read or College Day, for example.
The SDMC is taking applications to fill several positions. If you have a passion for broader school issues and have the time to participate, please consider sending an email to Principal Burbank at dburbank@seq.org , include any pertinent information as to why you might be passionate about participating.

How can parents support their children toward healthy participation in sports to facilitate a lifelong healthy lifestyle and to reach their potential? In this workshop, Steve Smith, PhD, psychologist and professor of clinical psychology in the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium of Palo Alto University, will review current research and provide guidelines for parents and coaches to consider for healthy sport participation.

Drama Boosters
SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION LAST WEEK! For those of you who were looking forward to the Open House last week, please, once again, I ask you to mark you calendars with the CORRECT DATE: Wednesday, September 23rd, at 7pm, in the PAC. We are looking forward to sharing with you the ins and outs of putting on a production. You do not need to be a Drama Booster Club member to attend, and you do not need to have a student in the Drama Department. We do hope that with this behind-the-scenes look at the PAC and all that goes into putting on a Woodside High School Theatrical/Musical Production, you might become interested in joining us to help put on the best high school productions in the Bay Area. If not, it will be our pleasure to show you around our work-place and our playground, called the Performing Arts Center.
And, once again, I want to remind all you students who want to audition for the Fall Production, you must sign up in the office. The auditions are Tuesdayand Wednesday, September 8 & 9 in the PAC right after school. You will sign up for a specific time slot, so be there ahead of time and ready to go "on" at your time. And, break a leg! The Evening of Theater Production will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21. You will NOT want to miss it.
Finally, if you are a student with a special talent that you want to showcase for your classmates and the Woodside High School community, auditions for the Woodside's Got Talent Show are also coming up. They will be in the PAC right after school on Thursday, Sept 24. Again, you must sign up and have the Audition Form ahead of time. Come prepared to show us what you got! Then, you'll have two weeks to hone and polish your act before the show onThursday, October 8.
There's lots to be excited about in the Drama Department and, therefore, lots for the Drama Booster Club to support. Visit our website at http://www.whsdramaboosters.com to see how you can become involved. |
