Woodside's Going to College
Woodside's Class of 2015 is having a great couple of weeks! Seniors have received acceptances to every one of the nine UCs as well as many CSUs. Private school decisions are coming in, too--USC, Boston University, Whitman, RISD, and Northeastern just to name a few. Stanford and the Ivies are early next week. Last week, WHS took 40 seniors to Cañada to complete the required steps for registration, and last night was Woodside's Community College Information Night. The representatives from the colleges did such a nice job, and they were impressed with the WHS turnout. Next week, we'll take interested seniors to College of San Mateo for a field trip, and then Foothill will be on our campus on Thursday so seniors can go through the registration process here on campus (very convenient!). I am proud of their accomplishments and their readiness for post-high school. (Ms. Matavulj) |

PTSA NEWS
Volunteers Needed!
The PTSA is a 100% volunteer organization. Our events and programs rely solely upon parents who can help to organize and execute our events and programs. Many volunteers find tremendous satisfaction in being able to contribute to the school experience of their children.
Needed immediately:
- Hospitality Chairperson shadow who will work to transition and take over independently with the January 2016 "grab and go" lunches for teachers and staff
- Season of Sharing (SOS) Chairperson(s)
- January 2016 Open House Co-Chairperson who will move to chairperson in 2017
Woodside High School PTSA Citizenship Award for Seniors Graduating 2015
Each year the Woodside High School PTSA awards scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors who generously give their time and talents to our school and to our community this year and over the course of high school. Scholarships may be used for any higher educational purposes.
What is Citizenship?
Citizenship comes from contributing to the well-being of our school, families or community. For this award we consider school sports, club activities, leadership, music, work with youth, elderly, environment, service organizations, church, scouting, as well as paid jobs, to be deserving work for our community and your future..
The application includes your activity resume and a short essay. This is a citizenship, not an academic, award. Ten $500 Awards will be granted.
Applications are due after Spring Break on Friday, May 1 at 3 PM.
Awards are made at the Senior Award Night, May 3rd, before Graduation

Fund-A-Need: Woodside Codes!
We live in Silicon Valley where coding is a second language. We want our students to have experience creating technology, not just using it! Please support opportunities for our students to code. With your support, students will have greater access to coding courses, coding activities in and outside of the classroom, and tech partnerships that take place right on our campus.
Funding goes towards:
- Additional section(s) of intro-level course "Joy and Beauty of Computing"
- Stipend for industry professionals: TEALS ("Technology, Education and Literacy in Schools") partnership with Microsoft in the computer science classes
- Professional development to build teacher capacity to create a 3-year computer science pathway ending with a mobile apps course
- And much more...
Goal $70,000!

Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Class of 2017 Parent BBQ kicks off on May 2nd, and you're invited to take part in the festivities. The Steinebel's are opening up their home for our last parent event of the year! Come one, come all, and hang out.
This BBQ is an important kickstarter to rallying the troops for ALL of our responsibilities next year -- primarily starting with football concessions (food, drink and grill sales), where we will need at least 20-25 volunteers at each home game.
Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased online before April 30th. All proceeds benefit the Class of 2017's Safe & Sober Grad Night. Can't make it? No problem! You can still donate the cost of your ticket/s to the Class of 2017 fund. Making your kid's Grad Night event something they'll remember for the rest of their lives begins and continues with each and every time you participate in fundraisers like these! Thanks for supporting your student!
