The cost for each AP exam is $95. You must use the following link to sign up for AP Exams at WHS: http://bit.ly/1xVcElL
AP teachers will be expecting all students to review, study, practice, and prepare, and many teachers give practice AP exams that count substantially toward all students' semester grades (including those who will not be sitting for the official exams). Reduced fees are automatically available for students who have qualified for free or reduced lunch. Please contact Kathy Soulard in D5 for questions about fee reductions and payment. In order to meet the ordering deadlines, all AP students must make payment arrangements by Friday, February 27, 2015. Payments are made in the Treasurer's Office (D5) OR by credit card using the IC portal (NEW SERVICE).
Students who do not sign up and make payment arrangements for AP tests will not get the opportunity to take the tests. No extra tests will be ordered. We are also willing to order and administer Advanced Placement tests to students who are not enrolled in the corresponding courses (including AP exams for courses that we do not offer). SUHSD PARENT EDUCATION MINI-SERIES: 2014-15
Teenage Risky Behaviors
Please join us for a pro-active Parent Education Mini-Series to address teenage risky behaviors. These targeted workshops will focus on adolescent drug and alcohol addiction, e-cigarettes, distracted driving, and sexual health.
"Vaping Reality: New Electronic Device (E-Cigarettes)
and Emerging Nicotine Products"
with Alissa Ralston, Project Director, Tobacco-Free Youth Project
Thursday, February 12, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Sequoia Union High School District Office
Birch Room
480 James Avenue, Redwood City
An alarming number of young people who have never used conventional cigarettes are now using electronic "vaping" devices and student use of these products now surpasses the use of conventional cigarettes. These devices are easy to hide and are often used with other drugs. Despite widespread perceptions to the contrary, e-cigarettes do not deliver "harmless water vapor."
Come learn how young people are targeted to experiment with these and other "non-conventional cigarette" nicotine products and why we should all be concerned. Examples of various products will be available to see.
Alissa Ralston has been active in tobacco education for the past 20 years. She has served as site coordinator for several TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention and Education) programs in both conventional and alternative high schools. Ms. Ralston has been the Project Director for the Tobacco Free Youth Project at Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) since 1999, and she currently focuses on trainings around emerging nicotine delivery products such as e-cigarettes.
"Distracted Driving Parent Workshop"
with Impact Teen Drivers (California Highway Patrol)
Thursday, March 12, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Sequoia Union High School District Office
Birch Room
480 James Avenue, Redwood City
For a detailed information on this class, click here.
NEW! THE M-A PARENT EDUCATION SERIES
"Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be:
An Antidote to the College Admission Mania"

Monday, April 6, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
M-A Performing Arts Center (PAC)
For a detailed information on this class, click here.
SUHSD parents, students, faculty/staff, and community members welcome! Spanish interpretation will be available. |

"Putting the Personal into the College Personal Statement"
with Beth Harrison, PhD, Peninsula Young Writers
Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Woodside High School, MUR (Multi-Use Room)
How can you help your teen put the "personal" into their college personal essays? What do they need to know before they begin composing authentic personal statements for college applications? Come learn the answer to these questions and more!
Join us for an information-packed presentation by Beth Harrison, PhD, an independent college advisor and writing instructor with 25 years of experience in higher education. This interactive presentation will jump-start the college essay writing process and offer valuable tips for helping your teen navigate a successful college search through reflecting on experiences and goals.
High school students are welcome to attend this session with their parents.
Woodside Parent Education Series events are free, sponsored by the WHS PTSA, the Sequoia Healthcare District, and the Sequoia Union High School District.
Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be provided.
For more information, contact Charlene Margot, Parent Education Series, Founding Director, at cmargot@csmconsulting.net or (650) 868-0590. For Spanish, contact Maricela Lopez, Bilingual Parent Coordinator, at (650) 367-9750, Ext. 45323.

WINTER DANCE NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The Winter Dance is in need of 6 sophomore parent volunteers to help with the dance. Volunteers are needed from 7:15p.m. to about 11p.m. on Friday, February 20. Parents would work coat check, supervise food tables and clean up. The Class of 2017 fund will get half of all ticket sales if we provide the volunteers! We only need 6 volunteers to make this happen, so step up.
RUMMAGE SALE
Start your spring-cleaning early and gather items to donate to this year's WHS school-wide rummage sale to be held in March. Our sophomore class will be selling items and all proceeds from our booth will benefit the Class of 2017 Safe & Sober Grad Night. We also need volunteers to help organize and staff the booth. Our booth CANNOT happen if we don't get any volunteers. It's a great time to step up and help! Email whsparents2017@gmail.com to volunteer and donate items.
DONATE USING PAYPAL
If you haven't already donated to the Class of 2017's Safe & Sober Grad Night through PayPal, now's the time to do it!
If everyone donated $100 right now, we would meet our financial goal! It breaks down to $25 a year, so donate it all at once or donate a portion of it. It's up to you.
Use your PayPal account or just go to the website to easily pay with your credit or debit card. To donate, go to http://www.paypal.com, click the "Send" tab at the top, enter our email address: whsparents2017@gmail.com, the amount you want to send, and follow the prompts from there. Please note that a donation made via your bank goes farther than using a credit card, which gets a cut from the proceeds. You can always use the form in the donation letter that was recently mailed out. If you didn't receive the direct donation campaign letter, please email: whsparents2017@gmail.com
Have a great week!
