Hello Woodside Family,

Join us for fun times at the annual Alumni Basketball game on Tuesday beginning at 6pm.

The Den is new this year and is a great place for your student to receive tutoring on core subjects.  We have pictures of our first meeting.

As you gear up for the holidays, you can easily incorporate giving to Woodside High School. Buy trees at Honey Bear Trees and Woodside gets a donation and buy anything at Amazon, through AmazonSmile, and we automatically receive a portion.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Seasons of Sharingsharing

Seasons of Sharing is a program through the PTSA that tries to lighten the burden of WHS families in need. We put together individualized gift boxes and deliver them to families whom counselors or teachers have identified would benefit from the program. We need additional volunteers. If you would be interested in helping, please email the co-chairs to receive additional information.
  • For those of you that have joined us in the past, we will be using a new schedule this year. We will wrap gifts and assemble gift bins on Thursday, December 4 from 2 - 7 PM in the MUR. The gift bin pickup by deliverers will be on Friday, December 5 from 3 - 6 PM in the PAC.
  • The need is great, therefore we always need more donations. Please make checks payable to WHS PTSA Seasons of Sharing, and send to the school; donations are tax-deductible.
  • We will need many volunteer shoppers , wrappers, and deliverers
    • Shoppers: we give you a family with ages, sizes, and gift needs/suggestions. We like to have at least one gift for each family member. This can be done any time before December 4th.
    • Wrappers: Come for a fun, busy day of wrapping and gift assembly -on Thursday, December 4th afternoon and early evening
    • Finally, we need adult drivers to deliver the gifts to the families over the weekend of Dec 6th-7th
    • Sign up with Anne (email below) to be on the mailing list - no obligation until you sign up for a family
  • Contact the current co-chairs to volunteer or to learn more.

Proposed changes to PTSA bylaws

There are several proposed changes to the PTSA bylaws that will be voted on at our next PTSA meeting at 7 pm on December 2, 2014 in the MUR.  The bylaws with the proposed revisions are available for review in the main office at the desk of Lupe Flores-Robles.

Outreach Ambassadors

Sometimes parents feel distant or disconnected from other Class of 2017 parents, especially when there are so many new people in our parent community. This is why we're looking for "Outreach Ambassadors" -- to help connect parents to info and our group.

Can you help send out about 4 emails a year to help share information with those parents you knew from middle school? Please email:

whsparents2017@gmail.com if you can help. It's easy! We're also looking for someone to help with outreach for our sophomore Spanish-speaking parent community.

Donate Using Paypal:  If you haven't already donated to the Class of 2017's Safe & Sober Grad Night through PayPal, now's the time to do it.  If everyone donated $100 right now we would meet our financial goal!  It's a $25 a year donation.

Use your PayPal account, create an account, or just go to the website to easily pay with your credit or debit card. To donate, go to Paypal, click the "Send" tab at the top, enter our email address: whsparents2017@gmail.com, the amount you want to send, and follow the prompts from there. Please note that a donation made via your bank goes farther than using a credit card, which gets a cut from the proceeds.

You can always use the form in the donation letter that was recently mailed out. If you didn't receive the direct donation campaign letter, please email:

SPORTS NEWS

  Athletes of the Week

Varsity Athlete: Tanin 'The Honeybadger' Barzanian, Sophomore, Cross Country

Coaches' Lens (Head Coach-Pablo Aguilera): "Tanin has earned and embraced the nickname given to her by her teammates: The Honeybadger. As the team says: 'Like the Honeybadger, Tanin don't care. Run up a huge hill? Tanin don't care, she runs harder. Get a side cramp while running? Tanin don't care, she runs through it. Doing one-minute planks for core work? Tanin don't care, she holds a plank for 5 minutes. Shin splints? Tanin don't care, she doesn't feel them. Goal to run PALs? Tanin don't care, she goes to CCS. Everyone runs 10 seconds faster than before? Tanin don't care, she runs a minute faster. Tanin is like the honeybadger, they don't care, they just always get better. Everyone better watch out."

Athlete: Scudder Stockwell - Varsity Football, Junior

Performance and Coaches' Lens (Head Coach-Justin Andrews): "Scudder stepped in after an injury to another player and played very well. He completed 14 of 18 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for one touchdown. After falling behind early, Scudder's play helped bring the team back and gave us a chance to win late in the game."
