HOW YOU CAN HELP: LEGACY GIFTS

St. Raymond Elementary School is committed to providing the best education we can to our students. You can help keep our school thriving through a legacy gift to St. Raymond. Here are a few simple ways to accomplish this:

1. Update your current will or have an attorney draft a will with your wishes on how your assets are to be distributed after your lifetime.

2. Name St. Raymond Elementary School as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or transfer ownership of a whole life policy to St. Raymond Elementary School.

3. Leave the balance of a retirement account to St. Raymond Elementary School after your lifetime. Simply list the program as the beneficiary on the beneficiary form provided by your plan administrator.

If you would like to learn more about making a bequest to St. Raymond Elementary School or other estate planning options, please call Jackie Comesanas, Esq., Director of Gift Planning at 646-794-3317 or email her at giftplanning@archny.org.

VALUE OF THE MONTH: LOVE

Something to think about today:

How do I show my love for others?

Dear St. Raymond School Parents, Alumni and Friends:

We're back! Once again, we've broken our previous enrollment record. We are the largest elementary school in the Archdiocese of New York with 962 students. And they just keep coming! And why not? We're the best school ever, if we do say so ourselves.

This month we've started a new feature -- Spotlight On.... Every month we will feature one grade in the school. September's Spotlight is on Pre-K.

In addition, taking a cue from our calendar, we are now featuring the Value of the Month. Look for the value and the corresponding question for something to think about.

Also, if you don't follow us already, please check out our updated Facebook page and Like Us. We have a new banner and are adding new photos on a regular basis.

Finally, please join us on October 20 for our Parish-School VIP Reception. Details and contact information are in the ad at the end of the newsletter. It's not too late to get a ticket. We'd love to see you.

Wishing you a peaceful fall,

Elaine Nole

Advancement Director

A CELEBRATION OF FAITH AND COMMUNITY:

THE MASS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The entire school, with the exception of our Pre-K students, who were still getting acclimated, attended the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Friday, September 20, in the school's auditorium.  An annual celebration, the Mass of the Holy Spirit is the first Mass of the new school year. Monsignor Graham concelebrated with Monsignor Stephen, Father Brogan, Father Gonzalez and Father Fred. What a wonderful way to start the new school year.

UP ON THE ROOF
Our new Rooftop Play Area is ready for our students. Imagine it filled with children! Monsignor Graham will bless the new Rooftop on Sunday, October 20, after the Parish-Schools Reunion Mass and right before our school's VIP Reception. We hope you can join us for this special day. (See information at the end of the newsletter to purchase a ticket, if you haven't done so already.)

SPOTLIGHT ON...PRE-K

We begin our new feature -- Spotlight on -- with our youngest students, Pre-Kindergarten. We have four Pre-K classes: Pre-K North, Pre-K South, Pre-K East and Pre-K West, with a total of 103 students. Meet our Pre-K staff and see what our youngest students are up to.

PRE-K NORTH: READING, WRITING AND LISTENING

Here, Pre-K North's teacher, Ms. McDonough, poses with her students who have just acted out Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Pre-K North assistant Mrs. Suarez helps the children in the photo top right. In the others, the children are working on new skills -- reading, writing, and the oh-so-important listening!

PRE-K SOUTH: IN THE GYM

Ms. Martinez, center, with her students at gym time. In the gym, the children had a chance to burn off a little energy and play some games. In the bottom center photo, Pre-K South assistant Ms. Moliere looks on as a child runs circles around the group.

PRE-K EAST: BUDDING ARTISTS

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. - Pablo Picasso

PRE-K WEST: NOTHING SAYS PRE-K LIKE NAP TIME!

Ms. Delgado works while the Pre-K West students take a nap. Imagine how much calmer the world would be if we all could nap during the day!
