Dear St. Raymond School Parents, Alumni and Friends:
It's hard to believe that summer is drawing to a close. September is just around the corner!
Summer Camp ended on July 26. It went so fast! In addition to the daily activities that we featured in the July E-News, our Summer Campers enjoyed field trips, kicked up their heels at their Dance Show and enjoyed the End of Summer Camp Barbecue. See the photos of their exploits in this issue.
And speaking of September...our extremely hard working and talented Maintenance staff, under the direction of Luis Mercado, have been cleaning, repairing and renovating the school (including creating new classrooms!) so that the whole facility inside and out will be top notch and ready for the 2013-2014 academic year. A big shout out to our great Maintenance Department! They keep our school looking fabulous year round. Check out the photos of the team in action.
The next time you hear from me will be in the new school year.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and have a safe and Happy Labor Day.

NOTHING SAYS SUMMER LIKE
A TRIP TO THE BRONX ZOO
|
A trip to the Bronx Zoo is one of Summer Camp's favorite field trips. It wouldn't be summer without it. The children spent an afternoon at the zoo. While there, one of the zookeepers called them over to see a newborn seal with its mother.

BOWLING AT NEW ROC CITY:
SUMMER CAMPERS TAKE TO THE LANES
| |
Our Summer Campers tried their hands at bowling at New Roc City in New Rochelle. The experience was thumbs up!
|
OLDER CAMPERS PLAY VIDEO GAMES AT NEW ROC CITY
|
While our younger children were playing mini-golf, some of the older ones exercised their hand-eye coordination on video games in New Roc City's arcade. Here, all eyes are on the screen.
|
OUR YOUNGEST SUMMER CAMPERS TRY MINI-GOLF:
A NEW TIGER WOODS IN THE MAKING?
|
|
On an indoor golf course, our youngest Summer Campers played mini-golf in black light. You can see how focused they were. Who knows? With a little work on technique and years of endless practice, one of them might become the next Tiger Woods! In the meantime, they had fun and one of them even took time out from the game to climb into a shark's mouth!
|
SUMMER CAMP DANCE SHOW
PARTY IN THE HOUSE
|
|
Our entire Summer Camp, from the youngest child to the oldest, participated in a Dance Show on July 24. Featuring 11 dances in a wide variety of styles -- from R&B and hip hop to pop and Latino -- the Dance Show had a party theme. In addition, two sixth graders sang a duet. For the finale, families and other guests were invited to join the dancers on stage.

SUMMER CAMP ENDS WITH BARBEQUE
|
|
The school hosted a barbeque on the last day of Summer Camp. Some camp counselors did the cooking (hot dogs and hamburgers); others did face painting. And everyone finished the meal with an ice pop, even Father Brogan as he visited with the little ones. And then, sadly, Summer Camp was over...until next year.

ON THE JOB WITH OUR MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT |
While most of the school was on vacation, our Maintenance staff was hard at work -- cleaning floors and ductwork, painting classrooms, scraping and refinishing floors, creating new classrooms, and doing all the things that help to make our school look clean and beautiful. Well done, team!
Below, the results of their hard work -- floors that shine, windows that sparkle, new classrooms and the best-kept school anywhere!
|
With the first day of school just weeks away, our office staff and faculty are busy getting ready for the new school year.
Ms. Jimenez at the front office and Ms. Beck in the principal's office are busy taking parents' calls and processing paperwork in time for September...
...while Ms. Capalbo, Mrs. Perrone and Mrs. MacKay are setting up their classrooms for the new school year.
That's all the news we have for this issue. Goodbye for now. We'll see you in September.
