Memory Care Assisted Living
Work to Expand The Cottage to be Complete by Early Autumn
Click to View Our Construction Progress
In April, construction crews started work to convert unused space at Wexner Heritage Village into an expansion of The Cottage, WHV's memory care assisted living residence, to a total of 18 suites.

The Cottage originally opened in 2011 with space for 10 older adults living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. It was fully occupied, with a waiting list, within months of opening.

"We knew this type and quality of care was lacking in our community," said WHV President and CEO David Rosen. "But the persistence of a waiting list and the calls we receive every week from worried families has really driven home the immediacy of the need."

Construction is expected to continue through the summer months. It involves the total renovation of space that, at one time, was used for patient rooms and was later occupied for a time by Jewish Family Services administrative offices. The remodeled space is scheduled to be ready for occupancy by early autumn.

The 8 Most Common Foodborne Illnesses and What They Do

April was a scary month for Central Ohioans. The news was filled with stories about a botulism outbreak in Lancaster linked to a church potluck and home canned food, as well as a voluntary recall by local ice cream company Jeni's in response to a potential listeria contamination.

But the reality is that botulism and listeria are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to foodborne illnesses. There are dozens of contaminants in our food supply that can cause symptoms from mild diarrhea and vomiting to severe dehydration and death. Knowing what they are, how to avoid them and what they do is the key to staying healthy.
