The Air is ON!

There is good news this week at St. Anne's! The new air conditioning units are installed and working beautifully and our sanctuary is cool once again. After 2 months in the wilderness of the parish hall, we return to the Promised Land of the sanctuary this Sunday July 10.

These new single unit systems include new air handlers that use the new environmentally preferable coolant and are expected to be more energy efficient than the old units. Placing single units outside avoided the costly option of trying to replace the air handlers under the roof over both sacristies, and avoided both loss of space and potential noise.

A great deal of research, thought, time and effort has gone towards this project which includes plans for a blind around the units in the near future. The total amount for the installation of the new system and the ancillary costs associated with them is around $26,000.

Fortunately, we can access some dedicated account funds to be used for large projects such as this; unfortunately, this means that these funds are not now unavailable for the next big unexpected thing.  Any money contributed toward the new HVAC now will offset the depletion of those funds and will be greatly appreciated.
We are selling a collection of "vintage" St. Anne's T Shirts to raise money for the HVAC.  $10 per shirt and three for $25. Pick your favorites from a table in the parish hall.  There is a committed matching donation for any money collected through T shirt sales up to $500. Thank you in advance for your patience, your generosity and your faithfulness in attending worship in the parish hall with open minds and open hearts.  And now, lets go to church!
St. Anne's Feast Day July 17
Ice Cream Churn-off and Tasting

It's summer, and that means it's homemade ice cream time. On St. Anne's Feast Day, Sunday, July 17, we will have our annual ice cream social and taste test competition during coffee hour between the 9AM and 11:15 AM services. Decide on your favorite recipe, and get ready for great ice cream, great fun, and great fellowship.

Bring your awarding winning ice cream in a cooler with ice to keep it frozen until time to serve. Don't forget your ice cream scoop.  This year's winner might be you!

Save the Date for Acolyte Festival
August 13-14
An Acolyte & Youth Leadership Festival will be held on August 13-14 at St. Thomas Isle of Hope in Savannah.  The event is open to 3rd through 12th graders. During the Festival, participants will enjoy Acolyte Olympics, as well as acolyting and church leadership workshops facilitated by experienced practitioners.  They will meet other young acolytes and church leaders from across the diocese, learn about liturgical practices, share their own church experience, and have fun!  Contact Allen Lamb for details at 229-392-6135 or this email.
Ministry Matters: Ushers
Who is usually the first person to greet you as you walk into a service of Holy Eucharist at St. Anne's?  Yes, it is an usher.

Yet ushers do so much more than handing out bulletins with a word of welcome and a smile to newcomers and old-timers alike. They assist with seating as needed and watch out for church attenders with access challenges who might require communion or healing prayers to be brought to their pew by the priest.

Ushers count those present, and guide those who carry the gifts of bread and wine to the altar. Ushers then collect and bring the offertory of money forward, all while guiding the young children pulling the wagon laden with donations for the Food Box or carrying the basket bearing the Knots of Love creations for a blessing.

Ushers guide the congregation to the communion rail in a safe and orderly fashion, always available with a subtle hand for assistance stepping up or down from the rail for both communion and healing prayers. Only when the entire congregation present has received communion do they come forward themselves. And when the congregation leaves the sanctuary, ushers check and tidy the pews and assist the Altar Guild as needed to prepare for the next service.

Many thanks to our ushers for all they do to make our worship experience welcoming, orderly and safe. If you are discerning a call to this important ministry at St. Anne's, please email Emily or call the church office at 229-382-7505 to be placed on the schedule for your preferred service time.  If you have questions or would like some on the job training,  the head usher for the 9 AM service is Chappie Tift and for the 11:15 service is Andy Oliver.
