HISTORIC SAINT CHARLES CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

BacktotopGreetings!
Mayor Faith 2013

Through my many years of public service, the one attribute that has remained constant is the ability to effectively communicate. What has changed is the proliferation of our communication tools.

I have always believed a personalized face to face conversation is always the best way to communicate. However, in today's world, we must use a number of mediums to insure our message reaching its full potential.

The City, and many of its departments, utilizes a number of platforms to insure we reach as many people in as many ways possible. We are engaged through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, electronic newsletters, our public access channel along with the City's traditional quarterly newsletter that is distributed to all residents. You can even watch a City Council meeting live on your TV or your computer.

Ultimately, our goal is to insure citizens are well informed about all facets of St. Charles.

Do you want to locate your business where transparency and communication are embraced in all formats? Then talk to someone in our Economic Development Department and we will be happy to tweet, talk or call your future growth opportunities.

Thank you,
 Sally Sig photoshop

Pieology Pizzeria and Cullinan Properties have announced the restaurant will open its first ever St. Louis location at the Streets of St. Charles. The company's local franchisee, Midwest Pie LLC, is expecting to open by the end of November.

Diane Oberhelman, President and Founder of Cullinan Properties, stated their St. Charles development continues to demonstrate itself as a trend setter.

"Streets of St. Charles continues to be an exciting and transformative development for the St. Louis region. We are pleased that Pieology decided to place their first store with us."

Cedarhurst Groundbreaking Scheduled for St. Charles

Cedarhurst Living will break ground on its newest senior living community in the City of St. Charles, on October 15, 2015.
Cedarhurst of St. Charles will be a 99,560 square foot, 99 unit assisted living and memory care facility located at 1800 First Capitol Drive in St. Charles, Missouri across from Lindenwood University's flagship campus as a part of its University Commons development. Although senior living on and near university and college campuses is a proven concept with more than 50 such developments across the country, Cedarhurst of St. Charles will be the first in the St. Louis region. As such, Cedarhurst of St. Charles will provide unique benefits to its residents, Lindenwood students, alumni and staff, as well as the residents of the City of St. Charles and the surrounding area. This will include a lifelong learning program and access to University sporting and cultural events for Cedarhurst residents, and the creation of internship and other programs to educate Lindenwood students on issues relevant to the growing population of seniors, including caring for persons with memory loss issues like Alzheimer's Disease.

"At Cedarhurst, we believe in Assisted Living, including Assisted Living-modeled Alzheimer's and memory care, and the value it brings to people, including seniors and their families," stated Joshua Jennings, CEO of Dover Development, which developed the project. Jennings' private equity firm, Dover Capital, will also have a substantial ownership stake in the project. Jennings continued, "We see this new Cedarhurst community as a wonderful opportunity to expand our mission, provide the highest quality assisted living and memory care available to residents of the St. Charles area, and engage with Lindenwood students, alumni and staff in a meaningful way."

IMPACT Strategies will serve as the general contractor on the site. IMPACT, which is based in Fairview Heights, Illinois, also recently completed the construction of a Schnuck's grocery store and shopping center on the University Commons site. IMPACT'S CEO, Mark Hinrichs, remarked, "Our previous successful experience building Cedarhurst communities for Dover, as well as our familiarity with the University Commons site, make us particularly excited about this project. We look forward to doing our part to make it a success."

A groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on October 15, 2015 at the construction site, which is located on the Northeast corner of University Commons, directly across from the construction site of Lindenwood's new Library and Academic Resources Center on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles. The public is invited to attend. Representatives from Cedarhurst, the City of St. Charles, Lindenwood University, Reliance Bank and the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce will also be on-hand to assist in the celebration.

Wasabi, Fuzzy's Taco Open New Stores.  Picasso's Nearing Completion

City and Chamber officials recently celebrated ribbon cuttings for the City's newest retail outlets.

In early September,  Mayor Sally Faith and the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce  joined representatives of  Cullinan Properties to cut the ribbon for Wasabi Sushi Bar at the Streets of St. Charles.

Wasabi Sushi Bar is recognized for serving some of the best in sushi and Japanese fare. Their menu boasts over 50 unique rolls and a wide selection of traditional Japanese cuisine. Wasabi Sushi Bar was "Voted best Sushi in St. Louis for the 11th consecutive year" by Sauce Magazine.

Cullinan Properties also announced  Picasso's Coffee will also be opening soon.

Locally-owned and independent, this will mark the coffee shop's second location. Picasso's features locally roasted coffee, bakery items from LaBonne Bouchee and smoothies. Lunch will also be served daily with menu items including Paninis and fresh salads. Customers will enjoy a wide selection of wines, liqueurs, and craft and imported beers each evening.  Picasso's will offer outdoor patio seating at its Beale Street location.

Local officials also welcomed Fuzzy' s Taco to the City. Positioned along West Clay Street next to Lindenwood University, Fuzzy's Taco is recognized as a fast growing fast food chain.

Using unique combinations and fresh ingredients,  Fuzzy's has created a strong following since opening its first store in 2003.

"These ribbon cuttings continues to demonstrate the growing strength of the St. Charles market and the great vision of our developers and business owners," stated Mayor Faith.

SmartAsset Rates St. Charles County #1 in Missouri in Retirement Fund Class
St. Charles County is Ranked
# 47 Nationally

SmartAsset, an online software financial software provider, recently reported St.Charles County topped the list in Missouri for residents most prepared to retire on time based on their wealth to cost of living index.

The company created a wealth-to-expense ratio every county in the country. This is the sum of median household wealth and average Social Security income divided by the cost of basic expenses. SmartAsset then indexed the ratio to 100, with a score of 100 representing the highest national wealth-to-expenses ratio. This index reflects how easily county residents are able to accumulate wealth given the cost of living in that area.

St. Charles County's index was 53.32 based on a median household wealth of $62,316 and cost of living of $18,477. The County was ranked 47th nationwide out of 3,000 counties in the U.S.

SmartAsset's interactive retirement savings map highlights the counties across the country in which residents are best prepared to retire on time. Zoom between states and the national map to see how each county ranks.

"The results demonstrate a strong financial base for residents of  St. Charles County," stated Co-Founder and CEO Michael Carvin. "It also shows these are people that understand long term wealth building."

Mayor's Power Breakfast Meets at SSM Health

The most recent quarterly meeting of the City's Power Breakfast was held at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital.

The group heard a presentation from Daniel Stark of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. He gave members an overview of the department's On-Site program, a free service that provides adaptable health and safety reviews for Missouri businesses.

The purpose behind the review is to provide in-depth review of potential hazards a business might encounter due to improper safety and health procedures. Not only is the review free, but any are also no fines or penalties associated with the consultation.

Applications are available online. Department representatives review the application and set up an initial review with company officials to insure everyone understands the review procedures and time frame.

The Power Breakfast consists of some of the St. Charles' largest employers who come together to discuss key issues impacting business and industry.
