BacktotopGreetings!

Mayor Faith 2013

The great American industrialist, Harvey Firestone once said,  "The secret of my success is a two word answer: Know people."  Truer words could not have been spoken, especially when it comes to success in economic development.

Our Economic Development Department receives inquiries from numerous sources every day. While the department has an abundance of information at their fingertips, even the staff will admit...they don't know everything.

That is why our City - not just our Economic Development Department, but every department - strives to create strong relationships. Our partnership with key allies like local businesses, developers, brokers, chambers, utility companies, neighboring communities, State of Missouri and other friends, allows us to have access to a tremendous amount of information.

This month's newsletter is a clear demonstration of how our partnerships work. From the ground breaking of the Fifth Street project to the expansion of Patterson Mold & Tool...partnerships are the reason for these successes. It is also why we will continue to have success.

So, if you are looking to strengthen your bottom line by creating a partnership with community, then look no further than the City of St. Charles. Because, just like Harvey Firestone...we know people.

Thank you,

 Sally Sig photoshop

Patterson Mold & Tool Casts Strong Expansion Plans in St. Charles

St. Charles based  Patterson Mold and Tool has announced an expansion to its local operation. The announcement was made after representatives from the City's Economic Development Department and the  Missouri Department of Economic Development worked with the company to assist in the investment.

Company officials project the expansion will include a $4.4 million capital investment and create 19 new high-paying jobs.

"Advanced manufacturing companies, like Patterson Mold, have long been a staple in Missouri's economy and it's good to see this important sector continue to develop and create new jobs," said Mike Downing, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. "Patterson Mold's commitment to growing in Missouri underscores the state's manufacturing advantages and we're proud to be a partner in this expansion project."

Mayor Sally Faith said the good news demonstrates the strong partnership that exists between the City, the State of Missouri and our local industries. "We applaud Patterson Mold and Tool for its continued investment in St. Charles. This proves that not only is the company doing things right, but our community is the right fit for successful industries."

"We also want to thank Governor Nixon and Director Downing for their partnership which helped in convincing the company to expand," Faith added.

Founded in 1978, Patterson Mold and Tool services the die cast, injection molding, and aerospace industry from small repairs to complete design and build of large complex dies. Its most recent expansion includes the construction of a 10,500 square-foot addition, a 25 ton bridge crane, and additional specialized machinery. The new space, expected to be operational in the spring of 2015, will allow the company to increase production capacity in anticipation of continued growing demand.

"This expansion is a great opportunity to better serve our growing client base," said James Martin, president of Patterson Mold and Tool. "At Patterson Mold, we are constantly striving to find new ways to increase our customer satisfaction. Combining a skilled workforce with cutting-edge technology and increased production space will allow us to provide next-level service."

City, SSM Hosts Groundbreaking for Fifth Street Project

Calling it a legacy project, Mayor Sally Faith recently hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the impending Fifth Street Corridor Improvements.

"The Fifth Street Gateway Project will create a legacy for the corridor leading into the City of St. Charles from Interstate 70 for many years to come.  This project is part of the district redevelopment plan for the City and includes roadway and streetscape improvements along Fifth Street from Bass Pro Drive to First Capitol Drive," Faith said

Public Works Director Jerry Hurlbert emceed the event and outlined the overall impact of the project. Running from Ameristar Boulevard to First Capitol Drive, Hurlbert said the project will:

    • Cost $10 million
    • Widen Fifth Street
    • Improve Traffic Flow
    • Enhance the entrance to St. Charles

At the event, Mike Bowers, President of SSM St. Joseph Health Center, stated the Corridor is an important aspect to the continued strength of the City's major health care provider. SSM is partnering with the City on the project.

Faith, Bowers and Hurlbert were joined by members of the St. Charles City Council, Director of Administration Michael Spurgeon, senior SSM personnel and representatives of R.V. Wagner, the general contractor for the project, to perform the ceremonial ground breaking ceremony.

Mayor Hosts First Small Biz Breakfast for 2015

Continuing a program started in 2014, Mayor Sally Faith hosted her first Small Business Breakfast for the new year. The program, which is operated in cooperation with the  Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce, brings together a variety of small businesses to discuss issues relevant to them.

The latest group had representation from a residential realtor firm, a printing company, a national chain sandwich shop, a technology firm and a senior living center.

"These meetings have been very insightful," stated Faith. "It shows that while small business covers a variety of sectors, they share a lot of the same concerns.  It also demonstrates the City's willingness to be as transparent and customer friendly as possible," she added.

Discussions centered on infrastructure projects, new businesses openings in the region and what the City is doing to continue its path of positive economic growth.
