BacktotopGreetings!

Mayor Faith 2013

Every year at this time, it seems I am always saying the same thing... "Hasn't this year just zoomed by?"  Even though we are leaving 2013 at warp speed, that doesn't mean we haven't had time to celebrate a number of successes.

Just think of what we experienced this past year.  Companies like Pharma Medica and Eastern Metal Supply opened new facilities in St. Charles.  We also celebrated expansions at LMI, Client Services and Glazer's.

The Streets of St. Charles established its footprint in the greater St. Louis region with the openings of Prasino, Tucano's Brazilian Restaurant, The Art Institute of St. Louis, Massage LuXe, 5 Guys Burgers & Fries, Wamhoff Financial Planning, and Brown Smith & Wallace.  Not to mention the buzz that is being created by its newest luxury apartments called The Residence at Streets of St. CharlesCullinan Properties continues the momentum at the entrance of our great city with recent announcements from Bar Louie and AMC Theaters.

We also saw the much anticipated initial construction of the University Commons project.

And who can forget one of the greatest successes of the year...the I-70 Blanchette Bridge was completed ahead of time and on budget!  Talk about a reason to celebrate!

The Christmas Season allows us to step back and reflect on all of the great things that are taking place in St. Charles and the region.  I am so glad to be an active part of all that has happened and thankful for the many partners that worked with us to make these ventures take root.

So, let me take this time to say thank you for being a part of this fantastic journey that we call "Grow St. Charles" and let's make plans to do more of this in 2014.

Thank you,

 Sally Sig photoshop

Mayor Sally Faith
Pharma Medica Research, Inc. Celebrates Opening

Governor Jay Nixon joined St. Charles  Mayor Sally Faith and other area leaders to officially cut the ribbon for the region's newest employer.

Pharma Medica Research, a Toronto based clinical research company, opened their first U. S. operations by welcoming the public to their newest facility in St. Charles.  The St. Charles facility will be the company's first expansion outside of Canada.

The $30 million project will bring 320 new high-tech jobs to the state and the St. Louis region over the next three (3) years.

Governor Nixon proudly welcomed the leadership team of Pharma Medica Research to the Show Me State and celebrated another win for Missouri's growing economy.  He further stated the company's decision to invest in St. Charles will strengthen the state's position as a leader in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

The company already started hiring employees in late August and has been busy with upgrading the infrastructure and training.  Recruitment of study volunteers will commence in December and the company will start conducting clinical trials in January 2014.

Mayor Sally Faith echoed the Governor's praise for the company's investment.  She stated that Pharma Medica's expansion is great news for the City of St. Charles and she looks forward to enhancing the City's partnership with the company as it grows in St. Charles, creates quality jobs, and bolsters the local economy.

Representatives of the St. Louis Regional Chamber, the Missouri Partnership and the EDC of St. Charles County were also on hand to participate in the ribbon cutting.  Mayor Faith thanked them for being part of the team that brought Pharma Medica to St. Charles.

Company officials initially contacted representatives with the St. Louis Regional Chamber in mid April when they learned of the availability of a building that fit their needs in St. Charles.  Since that time, the City's Economic Development Department, along with the Missouri Partnership and the EDC of St. Charles County, worked with the Chamber and company officials to finalize the deal.

Pharma Medica officials cited these entities for the success of the project noting because of their expertise and hard work, the region gained over 300 new high paying jobs.

The company's leadership team also announced that because of this investment, Pharma Medica Research will become the largest clinical research operator in North America

Missouri Ranked as Business Friendly by Tax Foundation Report

Reaffirming its competitive position, the State of Missouri was rated as the 16th-most friendly state for businesses when it comes to taxes, according to the Tax Foundation.  Once again, we are considered more amenable to business growth than our neighboring states of Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa and Kentucky.

"This independent report reaffirms Missouri's status as a low-tax state with a stable and competitive climate for businesses to grow and invest," stated Governor Jay Nixon.

Mayor Sally Faith also praised the report from the noted independent study.  "Growth is a result of strong vision and sensible fiscal management at all levels of government.  This ranking clearly demonstrates St. Charles and Missouri are equal partners in providing a high level of service at a very competitive cost."

The Tax Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., is a nonpartisan tax research group whose mission  is to educate taxpayers about sensible tax policy and the size of the tax burden borne by Americans at all levels of government.
