Dear Parents,


 

Summer recess begins next week for SCSS. On behalf of the school community I wish to thank everyone who made this year such a positive one.  We have laid a solid foundation and have established a great deal of positive momentum. My hope is to continue building on this momentum in the coming years. SCSS is blessed to have such a strong and committed community supporting and advancing the mission of the school.


 

Please note that the Main Office will have limited hours during the summer months. The summer schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

If you have any unfinished business, with the school, relating to the 2014-2015 academic year, please attend to this before the summer schedule begins. All financial obligations must be met by Thursday, June 25th. If there are any issues regarding this, please contact me via SCSS's Main Office phone line to schedule a meeting so we may reach a suitable arrangement.

Please note the following dates, updates, and information:

  • Friday, June 19th: SCSS Track and Field Meet at SJHS.
  • Monday, June 22nd: Early Dismissal 11:50 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 23rd: Last day of school for SCSS students. Early Dismissal 11:50 a.m.
  • In August 2015, Saint Catherine of Siena School will begin its transition to a navy polo shirt (traditional colors of SCSS) from the hunter green polo shirt for the summer dress code. On July 1st, the new polo shirts with the new school logo will be available for purchase through our vendors. Please contact Mrs. Laura Hurley at: lhurley@scsstrumbull.org for ordering information and/or additional details. During the 2015-2016 academic year, students will be authorized to wear the hunter green as well as the navy polo shirts. Beginning with the 2016-2017, academic year, only the navy polo shirts with the new school logo will be authorized.
  • If you have not already completed the VIRTUS class please do so over the summer. For class times and dates please go to: virtusonline.org.
  • Saint Catherine of Siena School (and Parish) will be making a 10 day pilgrimage (Wednesday, October 21st- Saturday, October 31st) to the birthplace of its Patroness, Saint Catherine of Siena, and other sacred places including: Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, and Rome. The pilgrimage is part of the school's celebration of its 50th anniversary, and promises to be both edifying and enjoyable.  It is open to both school and parish families. Space is limited, so if you are interested in making this pilgrimage please contact Mrs. Mary Ellen Midgley at: mem12337@gmail.com for reservations and/or additional details at your earliest convenience.
  • There is still availability for the Fun-in-the-Sun summer program at SCSS. For additional information please contact Mrs. Lane Whitmoyer at: lwhitmoyer@scsstrumbull.org.

Fundraising News:

  • Bertucci's Restaurant Dining for Dollars fundraiser: "Dining for Dollars" night at Bertucci's restaurant located on 768 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton. 15 % of your total bill will be donated to SCSS. Dine in, carry out, or business delivery all qualify! Valid 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. For the summer months, just mention the Dining for Dollars for SCSS to your server or cashier on the two dates above. No flyers will be sent home. Let us continue to keep this fundraiser on a roll! We have booked the first Thursday of every month from now through December so you can mark off those dates as well! Thank you for your continued participation in this fundraiser.
  • Boxtops for Education: Please continue to collect them and save them over the summer for the next school year. Any questions please contact Mrs. Barbara Wells at:supermom.bwells@sbcglobal.net.
  • Shoparoo: Thank you to all who are participating; we can always use more supporters. Help us hit $200.00 before the end of the school year. Download the app from the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store and start snapping and earning for SCSS. If you have not already signed up, please do so and use referral code "stuh1594" or "russ2509" for bonus points.  You can earn additional points by participating in surveys posted on the app and also by scanning bar codes of specially marked items on your receipts.
