 EXHALE TO LOSE WEIGHT ?! 

Did you read the article in the Star? It says "every time you exhale, you lose weight"

The carbon dioxide that we exhale has weight, so the more you exhale, the more you lose? They say that eating during the day offsets the carbon lost but that if you eat less and move more, you'll lose weight.

 

"If you exercise, you're going to breathe more and metabolize faster.  Metabolism is taking those long molecules and snapping them into shorter molecules.  Then you still have to get rid of them, by breathing them out!"

                    Weekend Appetizer!
Watermelon Strawberry Basil Skewers
gluten-free // yield varies 
  • Watermelon, cubed ~1-1 1/2-inch in size
  • Strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • Basil leaves, 1 small leaf per skewer 
  • Goat cheese
  • Honey
  1. Layer the watermelon cube, basil leaf [if the leaves are large cut in half], goat cheese, strawberry, then skewer together with a toothpick.

Top with a drizzle of honey just before serving.  Best served immediately. 

 

 

Vegan Mango-Coconut Smoothie

 

With its light coconut milk base - no dairy here - this vegan smoothie is utterly creamy and coconutty. Mango gives it a tropical vibe that makes it taste like a day at the beach.

Yield: 1 large or 2 small smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango cubes
  • 1 cup strawberries or raspberries
  • ¾ cup light coconut milk
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve with a straw.

I've been catching more and more articles about this recently and have followed it for a long time so thought it was time to revisit since we are putting in such fantastic effort, and may not even know that we're making little mistakes that could interrupt our path to perfection

  
Fruit - only eat alone on an empty stomach
  
The biggest one that floored me was fruit. I thought it was the best alternative desert but turns out it is almost the worst choice! The sugar in fruit tells everything that you just ate to be stored as opposed to being used for fuel (or metabolized) ! Yikes! Eat it for breakfast alone or wait 20 minutes (for the fructose to absorb into your bloodstream) and have your whole grain carbs without any protein or fat.
  
Proteins and fats together
chicken and veggies yes, fish and veggies yes
  
Carbs and veggies - no fat
spaghetti and meatballs and parmesean cheese?? nope. sorry.  Try brown rice pasta (it's gluten free), with tomato sauce (no sugar!).  Add veggies but not sautéed in butter! Use the tomato juice to lightly soften veggies
  
No pile - nothing white
potatoes, white rice, white pasta, sugar (duh), white flour...
  
Ask me for more details if you like, everyone reacts differently (it took me a few months!) but what happens is your belly flattens, no more gas, bloaty yuck, and this sort of melt happens where you wake up one morning and you are overall smaller ( a perfect compliment to SkinnyLegs!)
