BOOK IT!
Book Trust is truly one of the organizations that is helping to address the achievement gap in our school system by giving students access to books who would normally not have such access. The power of choice in their books is what makes it such a successful program. It really is like Christmas every month of the year for our students.
The extra bonus points that I get allow me to have a classroom library comparable to schools with very large budgets, which means that my students have an equal chance of success. The only way that my library selection is the size that it is, is thanks to Book Trust and my bonus points.

Holiday Wishes Come True
Your help provides new books to kids
What if your only wish this year was to choose and own a book? This is the reality for almost every Book Trust student. And, together, we are making those wishes come true.
Thanks to your continued support, we have already provided over 177,000 books to kids in need---just this year. Our goal is to provide over 600,000 books this year, bringing our grand total to 3 MILLION BOOKS!
Your help is impacting more than 25,000 kids' lives today. They are reading more. They are reading better. And, they are reading to become better learners.
Consider an end of year gift in 2012 today. For just $70, you can provide books for a year for one child---that's 18-20 books for their home library. Your gift today will make that child's tomorrow.

Family Literacy Celebration! McGlone hosts community literacy partners
On December 7, working together with the Montbello Branch of the Denver Public Library, the Montbello Family Health Center, and Reach Out and Read Colorado, we hosted a Family Literacy Celebration at McGlone Elementary School. Parents learned strategies to support their children in developing literacy skills, while children played literacy games, created book marks, and chose their Book Trust books.

The excitement of choosing books is contagious!

Book Delivery Catches Kids Reading
Book Trust and Seattle Public Schools teamed up Thursday, November 29th to showcase critical services being offered in Seattle by Book Trust, a non-profit dedicated to building the literacy skills of children from low-income homes through book choice and ownership. West Seattle Elementary has participated in the Book Trust program since 2007, and since that time, students have become proud owners of thousands of books.

Colorado Gives Day is a Huge Success! Over $15 million raised for hundreds of causes
We are truly humbled by the support you have shown to Book Trust during Colorado Gives Day. Thousands of people collectively gave over $15 million dollars during the 24-hour period to support causes across the state.
We are proud to report that with your generous support, we exceeded our goal of $10,000! Thanks to YOU and your decision to choose Book Trust, more than 13,000 students from low-income families will be able to choose and purchase new books each month of the school year. Books they get to own and cherish. Books they read over and over. Books they share with their parents, grandparents, and brothers and sisters. Books that open up their world to imagination.
Books that mean the world to them.

Guests mingle while bidding on silent auction selections
| While bidding on more than 30 distinctive works of art from the region's most talented artists, guests at Book Trust's Art Extravaganza had the opportunity to acquire original pieces of art representing a wide range of genres and mediums while supporting a non-profit organization that empowers keiki from low-income families in Maui County to choose and own books.

On Saturday, November 17th, over 100 people gathered for the beautiful Wailea sunset, savory pupus, wine, cocktails, entertainment and fabulous art at Mala Wailea in the beautiful Wailea Beach Marriot Resort & Spa and together raised over $80,000. Proceeds will benefit the Book Trust program in Maui County, which serves over 5,000 students in every elementary school in the county. The Art Extravaganza was made possible through the generous support of our patron sponsors: Robert H. Merriman, RB and Nancy J. Callahan, RB of The Wailea Group; Andaz, Wailea's newest resort; and Goodfellow Brothers, Inc.
