Sentiments from Dr. Nik Zervanos about Dr. Gene Farley...
|
"I learned more than a week ago in an email from STFM that Gene died. I was very saddened that another great figure in medicine has now faded away from us. Gene was one of those people who inspired others, including me, in a very big way. It was not only what he had to say, but how he said it, that made me feel his majesty. He had a most gracious and generous smile and a warm and engaging presence. You felt his loving embrace even at a distance. As he aged, his persona was enhanced by his flowing white beard.
It seemed only natural that this man who was filled with that wonderful charisma would want to have a health care system that was available to every American. He considered it a right for every person to receive health care, and on the other end, considered it a privilege for us as physicians to render that care and fulfill such an important human need. How could one not love this man.
I considered it an honor that I can call him a colleague and a friend. I am humbled by his greatness." Dr. Nik Zervanos
