I have just boarded my steamboat and I am now 'full-steam ahead' traveling to Hereford, Arizona!

 

We are very excited to hear that so many of you are coming out to meet me and my crew again this year! 

 

I thought I'd give you a final update just before my arrival.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PLEASE READ CAREFIULLY  

 

As you have seen from the original invitation, there are a few items to bring and/or keep in mind:
 

  1. A PRESENT: A gift-wrapped present for a man (bought by a male guest) or a woman (bought by a female guest), not to exceed $10. Keep in mind that the ages range from teens to adults, so try to find something a bit 'age neutral' if possible. Clearly mark the present with an "M" or "F".
  2. IT'S A POTLUCK: This is a potluck event: bring food and drinks for a  few people (not too much - there will be plenty). Send an email to Arno and Colleen Zandbergen today at nlarno@yahoo.com and let them know what you're bringing, so they can coordinate.
  3. YOUR CHAIRS: If you want to make sure you have a seat, please bring a folding chair!
  4. DRESS WARM: make sure to bring something warm since most of the event will be outdoors, weather permitting. We expect highs to be in the mid-60's in Hereford.
  5. RAFFLE TICKETS: There will be raffle tickets for sale at the event. The winner will receive a wonderful Sinterklaas basket with all kinds of delicious and fun goodies! The proceeds go towards future NLBorrels Tucson events
  6. BORDER PATROL: Traveling back from the Sierra Vista area you will likely go through a Border Patrol checkpoint. Sint will have his Green Card with him :-)  Please be sure to carry proper documentation as well. 
  7. YOUR SMALL CHILDREN: Parents/Guardians of small children: if you want, Sinterklaas can personally hand a gift to your child and say a few kind words (great photo opportunity!). See information below as to what you need to do. 

  

PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF SMALL CHILDREN ONLY! 

  • If you bring one or more small children, you can buy each child a gift-wrapped present, not to exceed $20 per gift per child
  • Bring it to the event and hand it to one of the Sinterklaas Committee members upon arrival
  • Be sure to clearly mark the child's name and age on the present. Sint's eyes are not the best, as you can imagine...!
  • Sinterklaas will personally hand this gift to your child with a few nice (and, if necessary, mildly corrective :-) things to say
  • Make sure you email the text you would like Sinterklaas to read to your child from his Big Book to Els de Kok at ejdekok@hotmail.com
