Empire's AMERICAN-MADE zone heaters will suit your needs perfectly. Empire Vent-Free Heaters are 99.9% fuel efficient. Because they don't require outside venting, no heat is lost. And best

of all, Empire Vent-Free units do not require electricity to operate.

Empire Radiant models produce an infrared "radiant" heat that instantly adds warmth to you and objects in the room just like the sun.

Empire Blue-Flame models work by heating the air, which then surrounds people and objects with "atmospheric" warmth.

Thermostats offer Balanced Temperature Control SR-10T, SR-18T, SR-30T, and the Blue-Flame BF-10 are thermostatically controlled from full input down to pilot. Turn the unit on and let the thermostat cycle the heat. BF-20 and BF-30 Blue-Flame models contain modulating hydraulic thermostats which, upon reaching your preset comfort level, cycle the main burner flame from HI to LO and, when the thermostat is satisfied, to OFF while leaving the pilot on; this reduces the large flame to a smaller flame while still emitting heat.

Automatic Blowers & Floor Stands increase the effectiveness of your Empire Heater - SR-18, SR-30, BF-10, BF-20 and BF-30 models with a blower. Empire's state-of-the-art centralized blower design quietly circulates the warm air. In addition, optional floor stands allow the heaters to rest safely on the floor.

Empire Vent-Free Heaters offer convenient, easy to operate controls on the top of the unit. The push-button igniter lights the pilot, eliminating the need for matches. Each unit is test-fired in the factory and contains an oxygen-depletion sensor that shuts off the unit if not enough fresh air is available. Empire Vent-Free heaters are whisper quiet and use a state-of-the art powder coat process that produces a durable, scratch resistant finish. And, in the event of a power outage, gas space heaters keep your house warm and cozy. The American-made SR & BF heaters carry a 5-year limited all parts warranty with a 5-year limited labor warranty.

Empire's HearthRite Radiant and Blue Flame  Vent-Free Gas Heaters offer intelligent design and exceptional value.

Radiant Heating: Think cat on a windowsill! Radiant heaters project warmth into the room like sunlight through a window. They are ideal for any supplemental heat application.

Blue Flame Heating: Think warm tropical breeze! Blue flame heaters warm the air, which rises to create natural circulation in the room.

HearthRite Heater features:

  • 99.9% Efficiency - Turns more gas into heat
  • Available in LP or Natural gas
  • Pushbutton piezo ignition and standing pilot
  • Heats even when electric power fails
  • Oxygen Depletion Sensor shuts off heater before oxygen drops to unsafe levels
  • Every heater is test-fired at the factory to check Oxygen Depletion Sensor
  • Wall-mount or floor stand
  • Three-year limited warranty on parts and labor
  • Imported for Empire from China

CSST Installation:  Bonding & Grounding

NFPA 58 or NFPA 54?

FS Header

We at GEC are often asked, "Does Gastite FlashShield CSST require bonding?"

The answer is YES.

NFPA 54, The National Fuel Gas Code is applied to the installation of fuel gas piping systems, fuel gas utilization equipment, and related accessories as follows:

(1)  Coverage of piping system shall extend from the point of delivery to the connections with each gas utilization device.  For undiluted liquefied petroleum gas systems, the point of delivery shall be considered the outlet of the final pressure regulator, exclusive of the line gas regulators, in the system.

NFPA 54 (2012 edition) states, CSST gas piping systems shall be bonded to the electrical service grounding electrode system.  The bonding jumper shall connect to a metallic pipe or fitting between the point of delivery and the first downstream CSST fitting.  The bonding jumper shall not be smaller than 6 AWG copper wire or equivalent.  Gas piping systems that contain one or more segments of CSST shall be bonded in accordance with this section.

Do NOT confuse the section in NFPA 58 on Bonding and Grounding to apply to CSST installations in residences and buildings, NFPA 54 has jurisdiction.

Gastite CSST FlashShield Delivers Best-in-Class Performance

The Only CSST to Meet LC1027 Listing Criteria

FS Header

FlashShield Metallically Shielded Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) from Gastite confirms its claims of best-in class lightning protection by meeting new ICC-ES PMG LC1027 performance standards for multilayer, conductive, jacketed CSST.

The LC1027 testing evaluated the ability of the CSST jacket material to withstand simulations of lightning voltage/currents that may exist within a residential or commercial structure. To date, FlashShield is the only CSST to meet all performance requirements.

The Independent Test

LC1027 testing was performed by a lightning test laboratory accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS). All samples of FlashShield CSST were attached with fittings, according to the manufacturer's installation instructions, and subjected to a minimum 96-hour salt fog for corrosion testing. A test generator was then used to discharge appropriate levels of electrical current to the test samples. Waveform shapes were then captured and recorded.

LC1024 versus LC1027 Testing Criteria

For the past few years, the ICC-ES PMG LC1024 listing criteria has been the measuring stick by which protective CSST jackets have been accepted in the market. The LC1024 criteria requires salt spray preconditioning for corrosion and specifies a charge level of 4.5 coulombs at a current of 1000 amperes. A new listing criteria, ICC-ES PMG LC1027, has been developed to characterize higher-FS Fittingsperforming CSST jackets.

While LC1027 also requires corrosion testing prior to lightning testing, the testing is significantly more destructive due to a three-component test that delivers greater lightning energy. The LC1027 listing has a combined charge level of 36 coulombs, which is eight times higher than the LC1024 charge level, and delivers currents in excess of 30,000 amperes.

Summary

The LC1027 criteria specifies eight times higher charge levels and up to 30X higher currents than LC1024, making it the most robust listing criteria currently available for protective CSST jacketing.

If you are currently CERTIFIED to install Yellow Gastite CSST?  You can easily upgrade your CERTIFICATION to install Flash Shield Enhanced Protection, the only CSST to meet both LC1024 and LC1027 standards for performance.  You can UPGRADE your certification for Flash Shield ONLINE!   READ MORE BELOW.

Flash Shield is the industry's only metallically shielded CSST, FlashShield outclasses the competition by far surpassing the level of lightning protection required by LC1024.  The metallically shielded system dissipates electricity and heat and two semi-conductive polymer jackets surround the layer of metal mesh for extra protection.  Jacket-Bite™ fittings provide continuity with the metal mesh and NO additional manufacturer bonding is required; but you should meet all bonding requirements from regulatory codes and local AHJ's.

It is simple, to upgrade your original Gastite training certificate to include FlashShield™?  Complete the following training about the differences between standard Gastite CSST and FlashShield tubing.

NOTE: Only certified Gastite installers may use this module to upgrade to FlashShield.

Here is how to get FLASHSHIELD UPGRADE CERTIFICATION training online:

  1. Go to www.gastite.com
  2. Choose the Technical Resources Tab at top of page
  3. Use the drop down menu and select Get Certified
  4. Choose FLASHSHIELD UPGRADE CERTIFICATION
