FLASHSHIELD Upgrade Certification

 

Were you once CERTIFIED to install Yellow Gastite CSST?  And now you want to start installing Flash Shield Enhanced Protection, the only CSST to meet both LC1024 and LC1027 standards for performance.  You will need to UPGRADE your certification for Flash Shield and YOU CAN do that ONLINE!   READ MORE BELOW. 

 

Flash Shield is the industry's only metallically shielded CSST, FlashShield outclasses the competition by far surpassing the level of lightning protection required by LC1024.  The metallically shielded system dissipates electricity and heat and two semi-conductive polymer jackets surround the layer of metal mesh for extra protection. Jacket-Bite™ fittings provide continuity with the metal mesh and NO additional manufacturer bonding is required; but you should meet all bonding requirements from regulatory codes and local AHJ's.

 

It is simple, to upgrade your original Gastite training certificate to include FlashShield™?  Complete the following training about the differences between standard Gastite CSST and FlashShield tubing.

 

NOTE: Only certified Gastite installers may use this module to upgrade to FlashShield.

Topic: Soot Accumulation on Direct Fired Vaporizers

Product: Algas-SDI Direct Fired Vaporizers

Models: 40/40H & 80/40H Manufactured between August 2011 and October 2013

Purpose: Identify units affected and Corrective Action to prevent soot accumulation

  

In August 2011 and January 2012, Algas-SDI implemented design changes to the direct fired vaporizers which may prevent adequate airflow for proper combustion on the 40/40H and 80/40H under some operating conditions. As a result, we have received a small percentage of reports of vaporizers accumulating soot, mainly on the top cover of the vaporizer and the upper louvers of the door.

 

Models affected are limited to the 40/40H and 80/40H and were manufactured between August of 2011 and October of 2013. The affected serial number range for each model is:

40/40H:      Serial numbers:  A12A20003069 - A13J20003626

80/40H:      Serial number:    A12A40005939 - A13J40007351

 

Through rigorous testing, we have identified the corrective action necessary to prevent future soot build up requires an upgrade to the burner that includes a new burner jet orifice size (#69). Burner retrofit kit part numbers are;

40/40H      Burner retrofit kit p/n: 45000

80/40H      Burner retrofit kit p/n: 45008

 

If you experience trouble with a unit that falls within the serial number ranges listed above, please contact your local distributor or Algas-SDI with the serial number of the vaporizer. Upon submission of the serial number a burner retrofit kit and instructions for proper cleaning of the vaporizer will be provided to upgrade the vaporizer.

Topic: Product Upgrade - Burner Jet Orifice Change

Product: Algas -SDI Direct Fired Vaporizers

Models: 40/40H, 80/40H and 120/60H: Beginning Serial numbers: 40/40H - A13J20003627; 80/40H - A13J40007352; 120/60H - A13J60002719

Purpose: Notice of product upgrade to improve overall performance of the direct fired vaporizer

 

To improve the overall performance of the direct fired vaporizers, Algas-SDI has implemented a change to the burner jet orifice on the 40/40H, 80/40H and 120/60H. The new burner jet orifice is a #69 orifice.

 

The new burner jet orifice is paired with an additional upgrade to the components on the main burner supply line. A tee with a pressure port has been added to the main burner supply line at the outlet of the thermostat enabling the end user to properly set the pressure required for proper operation and combustion of the new burner.

 

Vaporizers manufactured after November of 2013 (see beginning serial numbers above) are equipped at the factory with #69 burner jet orifices and the new pressure port.

 

Proper pressure settings for the units equipped with #69 jets are shown below.

Units manufactured from October 2002 equipped with #66 burner jet orifices can be upgraded with the new burner jet orifice and pressure port by purchasing a burner retrofit kit. An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
 

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out..

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.   This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'
