Autogas Application Solution!
Do you have an Autogas application and RegO Logoneed to take a Pump Bypass line to a  vapor splash fill opening on a domestic tank and don't have that opening?
The RegO 8118P
multi-purpose filler valve provides that solution!

The RegO 8118P Multipurpose Filler Valve can be used to replace an existing 1-1/4"NPT filler valve in a domestic 1,000WG tank.  The 8118P will provide filler valve capability into the vapor space, plus with the additional 1" NPT opening it will allow you to pipe an Autogas HDP pump bypass back to the vapor space of a domestic 1,000WG tank.  This is very helpful when using regenerative turbine pumps that are required to be piped to the vapor space of a tank.  To comply with NFPA 58 regulations it is also fitted with an excess flow seat fully contained in the tank coupling for maximum protection, a 1/4"NPT gauge port, and a manual shutoff valve.
8118P

Features:
  • Designed as a filler valve for LP-Gas with upper check and manual shutoff.
  • Excess flow valve allows for maximum filling rates regardless of the length of the coupling the valve is installed in.
  • Excess flow seat us fully contained in the tank coupling for maximum protection in the event of external damage to the valve.
  • Breakaway groove protects the ACME in the case of a drive-away with the filler hose still connected.
  • V-ring spring loaded stem assembly requires no repacking of field adjustment.
  • Plugged ¼" NPT boss allows for a pressure gauge to be installed.
  • The one-inch outlet port plugged.

DOT Regulatory REMINDER
Changes to Shipping Paper Requirements Effective January 1, 2013

A DOT rule became effective January 1, 2013.  The rule adopted nearly six years ago regards the shipping paper basic description.  Amazingly, the rule didn't add or require new information, it simply changed the order of the basic description in the shipping paper sequence to harmonize with international standards.

The previous shipping paper order sequence was: Shipping name, Hazard class, ID number, Packing Group (note that there are no packing group requirements for propane).

The new shipping paper order sequence that became effective January 1, 2013 simply moves the ID number to the top so that the new order would be:

  • ID number
  • Shipping name
  • Hazard class
  • Packing Group
If you have not replaced your old style shipping papers with new ones; they can be ordered from GEC.  The part numbers for the NEW STYLE shipping paper are:
  • V-83 for Shipping Paper for Bulk Truck
  • V-83-CYL for Shipping Paper for Cylinder Trucks

Motor Thermostats & Crankcase Heaters
Make Sure You Hook Them Up.

Protect your Motor Investment &

Protect your Motor Warranty

If you are making investments in new pumps and motors for the Autogas market; make sure you are wiring your motors in accordance with the electrical codes.  Motors 2 HP and over require thermal overload protection.

Have you ever looked inside an electric motor junction box and noticed extra wires, sometimes yellow, grey or brown? These are probably additional protection options for your motor; such as thermostats and crankcase heaters.

In addition to the thermal overload protection (usually provided within manual and magnetic starters) some motors utilize internal thermostatsThese thermostats are designed to protect motors from internal overheating due to undersized service wiring, overloaded conditions or even low voltage issuesBUT, for the thermostats to function they must be utilized.  For a thermostat to properly function it must be wired into the control circuit of a magnetic starter with either relays or a momentary start/stop switch.  When the thermostats sense an overheat situation they open the control circuit, thus dropping out the magnetic starter relay and causing the motor to shut-down prior to being damaged.  We find many times on motors returned for warranty issues that the installer has failed to utilize the protective thermostats, and in some cases voiding the motor warranty.

Another protection option we see quite regularly on LPG motors is internal motor crankcase heaters.  These heaters are NOT to be confused with overload heaters you find in starters.  Since LPG pump motors are cycled On & Off quite often in cold environments during the winter, they generally experience condensation of humidity inside the motor housing which occasionally leads to a failed motor due to either short-circuiting or freezing of the moisture on cold nights/days locking up the motor.  In other words, when cold motors are started and stopped repeatedly, they warm up and the cold humid air condenses to moisture inside the motor.

To prevent moisture from condensing inside the motor; motor manufacturers have installed heaters inside the housing to keep the motors warm and dry when not running.  This prevents the buildup of condensation inside the motor.  But, just as the thermostats discussed above will not function if they are not connected; NEITHER will the HEATERS protect a motor from condensation if they are not connected to a power source.  The heaters must be connected to a separate power source to function when the motor is NOT running.  They are usually wired through a N/C (normally closed) relay on a magnetic starter so they are powered when a motor is NOT running; and shut off during the time the motor is running.

If you have additional questions on electric motor thermostats or crankcase heaters; contact your GEC sales representative, customer service representative or project manager.
