  • Welcome to Spotlight, the weekly PCD student newsletter.  Spotlight will be emailed to all students on Tuesday afternoons and will also be archived on Symplicity (in the News Feed).  Most items will not be repeated in future issues of the newsletter, so be sure to read Spotlight every week to keep updated on all career-related news and information.
  • The 2015 NALP Directory of Legal Employers (NDLE) is now live with more than 1,000 employer listings. The NDLE provides a comprehensive and free solution for students and graduates researching legal employers by providing specific information on law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations, and corporations. Organizational listings include information on lawyer demographics, practice areas, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion practices, and other valuable information about legal employers. 
  • Interning in New York City this summer? Educational Housing Services is offering $200 off summer 2015 housing through April 30. EHS provides more than just housing; EHS provides the ultimate NYC intern lifestyle! Visit their website for details.
  • Can't attend a PCD program but want to know what happened?  Program audio for many past PCD programs is available in a playlist on the Symplicity News Feed.

  • Student Business Cards - As a reminder, students are able to order business cards with the Suffolk Law logo from Andrew T. Johnson Company.  Order Forms are available in the PCD office.
  • Visit the Judicial Clerkship and Internship Resource Center on Symplicity for information on judicial internships and post-graduate clerkships. Scroll down the News Feed and click on the link!

Recruitment Programscareer fairs  

  • On-Campus Interviews (OCI) will begin on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 and resumes are due by July 22, 2015. Be ready!  A preliminary Summer/Fall 2015 Recruitment Calendar is available in the Document Library on Symplicity.

  • The Indianapolis Bar Association Diversity Job Fair will be held August 6-7, 2015 at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites. Students graduating in 2017 or 2018 who are looking for a one-of-a-kind legal community in a Midwestern city that has both cosmopolitan style and small-town charm are invited to participate. Learn more about the program on March 31 (TODAY!) at 5:00pm via a webinar. Student registration opens April 1 and closes June 28. 

  • The 11th Annual Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair (HDLJF) will be held August 21-22, 2015 in Kansas City, MO. Students who are interested in becoming part of Kansas City's dynamic legal community should strongly consider attending this event. Employers will be interviewing for both summer and post-graduate positions. Students can register online; students who register before June 5 will be entered into a drawing for exciting prizes.   • The San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association is pleased to announce the 18th Annual SFIPLA Bay Area Job Fair, which will be held at an co-sponsored by the University of California, Hastings College of Law, located at 198 McAllister Street, San Francisco, CA on Sunday, August 8, 2015. Interested students should register on the program Symplicity site by (1) completing the Employer Selection Form, and (2) uploading your resume and any supplemental materials such as transcripts or writing samples for firms that require them. You may begin bidding on employers as early as April 23 and ALL registration information (including employer selections) must be complete by 5:00pm on May 24, 2015. Job Postings

  • Job postings received by PCD are listed on Symplicity. View a listing of all student opportunities that were posted within the last week.
  • Several government programs have deadlines coming up in the next few weeks. You can view a list of these programs on the news feed section of your Symplicity home page. Details of these programs are provided in the Government Honors & Internship Handbook 2014-2015 (contact PCD for login information).  Many federal and state programs will be filled as soon as the ideal candidates are identified.  Get your applications in early for these employers!

  • Join the New Lawyers Section of the Boston Bar Association for Hop Scotch into Spring!: An Evening of Scotch Tasting and Networking on Thursday, April 23 from 5:30 to 8:30pm at Cornwalls. RSVP  

  • Red Sox Law Night will be held on Monday, April 27. At 4:10pm, go behind the scenes with current executives from the Boston Red Sox Legal Department and discover their secrets on how to make it in the Sports and Entertainment Industry. A Networking Hour will follow at 5:10 with game time at 6:10 (Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox). Tickets are $65 and include food and beverage buffet, access to the networking event, and Fenway Park replica. To order, call 617-226-6288. 

  • Join the SULS Business Law Association on Tuesday, April 28 from 6:00 to 8:00pm for their 2015 Spring Panel Event!  Enjoy refreshments and hear from successful business law attorneys currently practicing in Boston.  The event will begin with a brief reception and panel.  Attorneys will respond to questions and share their own thoughts regarding their professional experiences, and give advice as Professor Lipshaw moderates. The second portion of the event is reserved to give students an opportunity to network with panelists and ask any remaining questions they may have.

  • The SULS Environmental Law Society is hosting a speaker on Wednesday, April 29 at 2:00pm in Room 245. Meet Melissa Hoffer, Environmental Protection Division Chief with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office. Attend this brown-bag lunch as she speaks about her career and answers questions. 

  • On May 1-2, 2015, the nation's first-ever Veterans' Legal Career Fair will take place in Washington, DC. This career fair will match employers with experienced lawyers who have served in the U.S. military or are transitioning out of U.S. military service. The career fair will arrange one-on-one interviews and informational sessions for veterans seeking positions as lawyers, including with corporate legal departments, law firms, other private sector employers and government agencies.   • The International Trademark Association (INTA) is having its 137th Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA from May 2-6. This is a great experience for students who are interested in IP or trademark law. During the meeting, they will have a Career Development Day on May 4, which is a day designed with programming and networking opportunities specifically for law students. 

  • The Boston Bar Association is pleased to welcome professionals from NAIOP (The Commercial Real Estate Development Association) and ULI (The Urban Land Institute) on Wednesday, May 6 from 5:30 to 7:30pm for Expand Your Network: Connect with Real Estate Industry Professionals at the BBA. Join them for an evening of cross-industry networking. RSVP
