- Welcome to Spotlight, the weekly PCD student newsletter. Spotlight will be emailed to all students on Tuesday afternoons and will also be archived on Symplicity (in the News Feed). Most items will not be repeated in future issues of the newsletter, so be sure to read Spotlight every week to keep updated on all career-related news and information.
- Applications are now being accepted for the First Year Summer Judicial Internship Program (FYSIP). Apply online by 10:00am next Thursday, January 15. Questions? Contact Margaret Talmers at mtalmers@suffolk.edu.
- DUE THIS FRIDAY! Interested in government and public policy? Are you a 1LD/2LE or 2LD/3LE student looking for a summer job that pays, includes mentorship, and educational and enrichment activities? Apply for the Rappaport Fellows Program in Law and Public Policy. All fellows are matched with a ten-week summer internship with a Boston-area government employer, provided a mentor, and meet weekly to discuss topics related to public service and policy. Applications are due January 23, 2015 on the Consortium Symplicity site. The Suffolk Public Interest Law Group (SPILG) Fellowship provides funding for students working in otherwise unpaid summer internships with non-profit and government organizations. The purpose of the Fellowship program is to support Suffolk Law students dedicated to public service while providing an invaluable service to non-profit and government organizations and the communities they serve. The number of Fellowships awarded each year varies but Fellowships are usually available for approximately 60 students each summer. Please note that, in addition to completing the SPILG Fellowship application, students must apply for Federal Work-Study (FWS) in the law school's Financial Aid Office. You are not required to have a job in order to submit an application. FWS is awarded only when your financial aid record is complete. All application materials must be submitted online through Symplicity no later than Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. More information is available in the SPILG Fellowship handout in the Document Library on the Suffolk Symplicity site.

The application deadline for the Summer Global Internship Program and the Ireland Public Interest Internship Program is Monday, February 2, 2015. Internship placements are available in private firms in 100 countries and in public interest organizations in Ireland - combined with academic training to prepare you for the experience. The Massachusetts Bar Association announces their Oliver Wendell Holmes Scholarship. It is one $10,000 scholarship opportunity for a third-year Massachusetts law student who: (1) is committed to public interest law upon graduation; (2) has a proven record of hard work and academic accomplishment; and (3) has demonstrated integrity and honesty. For applications and requirements visit www.massbar.org/scholarship. Applications are due by Friday, February 20, 2015.

- Featured Posting: Nelson Mullins is accepting applications from 1LD/2LE students for their 2015 Summer Associate Program. See Symplicity job posting #13131 and apply online by noon on Friday, February 6.
- Applications are now being accepted for the Boston Bar Association's Summer Judicial Internship Program. This internship, facilitated by the BBA's Diversity & Inclusion Section, provides law students with the opportunity to work directly with the courts, observe courtroom proceedings, and enhance their legal research and writing skills. See the BBA website and Symplicity job posting #13062 for more information. Applications will be collected on a rolling basis with a deadline of February 27, 2015 for the receipt of ALL complete application package items.
- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is accepting applications from first year students for their 2015 1L Summer Law Clerk Program. Details are available on USAJobs and Symplicity job posting #12967. You must apply by Monday, February 2, 2015.
- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is hiring for Student Intern positions. More information is available on USAJobs. Pay close attention to the directions provided inside the announcement as your application cannot be considered unless ALL required documentation is submitted and vacancy questions are answered by the closing date of February 2, 2015.
- Several government programs have deadlines coming up in the next few weeks. You can view a list of these programs on the news feed section of your Symplicity home page. Details of these programs are provided in the Government Honors & Internship Handbook 2014-2015 (contact PCD for login information). Many federal and state programs will be filled as soon as the ideal candidates are identified. Get your applications in early for these employers!

Register today for the 21st Rebellious Lawyering Conference (RebLaw) to be held on February 20 and 21 at Yale Law School. RebLaw is the nation's largest student-run public interest conference. Every year the conference brings together practitioners, law students, and community activists from around the country to discuss innovative, progressive approaches to the law and social change. - The Boston Lawyers Group invites students to attend Charting Your Legal Future: A Career Conference for Law School Students of Color on Wednesday, February 4 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Fish & Richardson, One Marina Park Drive, Boston. Law students will have the rare opportunity to meet and network with practicing lawyers and professional development staff from BLG member organizations. There will be panels on relevant topics developed to further students' career development. RSVP to Lena Andrade at landrade@thebostonlawyersgroup.com by January 30. - Goodwin Procter announces their Goodwin Public Interest Fellowships for Law Students of Color for 1L students. Their fellowship program offers awards of $7,500 to students of color who work in public interest positions the summer after their first year of law school. In addition to the monetary fellowship award, selected fellows are guaranteed a "straight-to-callback" interview with the Goodwin Procter office of their choice in the fall interviewing season during their second year of law school.
