Get your decorating on!
Ladies, mark your calendars for the Women's Christmas Dessert to be held at 6:30 PM Tuesday, December 4th.
We are looking for 34 women to decorate and hostess a table for six other ladies. Last year was phenomenal with so many uniquely decorated tables and we are excited to do that again. This year the theme is "LIGHT" and so we are asking that you somehow incorporate the element of light into your table design. For more detailed info regarding table hostessing please call Tammi Keffer at 360-692-6549 or email tammi.keffer@peninsulabible.org.

Update on David Reed
David Reed, a child in our congregation, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The big news on David this week: a large breathing tube has been replaced in his throat with a smaller tube. He can now speak a word or two at a time. For the first time in weeks, he can tell his family he loves them.
David has been enduring radiation treatments at the University of Washington, and then returning to stay at Children's Hospital. The date of David's return home -- with nursing care in place -- is now mid-November. The family is anxiously anticipating this day, and need a lot of encouragement to get through this final stage of a marathon of care. They would love any encouragement you might send via the web at www.caringbridge.org.

 Opportunities for service
We need volunteers to assist with:
Laundry
Anita O'Connor has graciously served our church for years washing table clothes, dish clothes and other laundry items following weekly services. She is no longer able to perform this service. If you would be willing to assist, please contact Heidi Evans on the main office at 360-692-6549 or email heidi.evans@peninsulabible.org.
Greeting
Make our church a welcoming place. Even a once-a-month commitment is helpful, especially at 10:45 AM. Email Judy Bertolini at judy.bertolini@peninsulabible.org or call the main office
Providing a ride to a church member
Maureen Russell needs a ride to church on Sunday mornings. She requires the use of a wheelchair, but plans to use our church wheelchair if you cannot fit her usual motorized chair in your vehicle. Maureen lives in the Golden Tides across from the Yacht Club Broiler. To help, call her at 360-362-9740.

Budget approved, Johnson selected
Carl Johnson was re-elected to the Elder Board Sunday. Ninety members of the PBF congregation gathered for the annual congregational meeting. Carl will serve a four-year term. He has extensive experience on the Elder Board, serving for 12 years from 1986 to 1998, and then, after a hiatus, serving in 2008 until his re-election last week. The members also approved the proposed budget of $873,000 in expenditures for 2013. Pastor Brent James congratulated the congregation on its generosity and encouraged members to continue giving even though the church is meeting it's budgetary obligations. PBF continues to need funds to restore depleted reserve accounts in addition to funds for facility upgrades and major maintenance. See the entire annual report here.

On the downhill slide of the fast!
This week we have passed the mid-point of the fast. We have learned to accommodate the fast in our daily lives. Some report it is even making their lives easier, more peaceful and less wasteful. See Tammi Keffer's blog on those benefits here. We will be putting all that money we saved to work for the people of the Dominican Republic by packing thousands of meals for them at 4 PM Sunday, Nov. 18th in the sanctuary. Children are MORE than welcome, in fact they are usually wonderful help at these packing events according to COTN organizers. Bring the whole family to this event! See more here.
Many in the PBF family are fasting -- in this case eating the diet of those in the Dominican Republic -- for 40 days. They are limited to eating things like: chicken, rice, black beans, citrus fruit, bananas and avocados.
During the course of the fast, we will be supporting in prayer and finances, the work of I Love Baseball (ILB). This mission helps young men in the Dominican Republic reach their full potential as students, role models, and leaders, but also as baseball players. Our goal is to provide the necessary baseball training, coaching, mentorship and equipment needed for all of our players to reach their maximum potential.
