Bring costumes Nov. 4th
to aid Girl Scout project
Bring your gently-used Halloween costumes to church November 4th, the Sunday AFTER Halloween, and place them in one of the collection laundry baskets in either foyer. They will be donated to Royal Family KIDS Camp, which provides a week of fun, summer camp experiences for children in the foster care system. Children will use the costumes to play dress up during the camp.
PBF's own Kelsey Kim is coordinating the collection. She is working toward completing the requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award, the equivalent of the Eagle Scout designation for young women.

Ladies Christmas Dessert
6:30 PM Tuesday, Dec. 4th
 Get your decorating on!
Ladies, mark your calendars for the Women's Christmas Dessert to be held at at 6:30 PM Tuesday, December 4th.
We are looking for 34 women to decorate and hostess a table for six other ladies. Last year was phenomenal with so many uniquely decorated tables and we are excited to do that again. This year the theme is "LIGHT" and so we are asking that you somehow incorporate the element of light into your table design. For more detailed info regarding table hostessing please call Tammi Keffer at 360-692-6549 or email tammi.keffer@peninsulabible.org.

Update on David Reed
Many of you have asked about the status of David Reed, a child in our congregation whowas diagnosed with a brain tumor. David has been enduring radiation treatments at the University of Washington, and then returning to stay at Children's Hospital. The date of David's return home -- with nursing care in place -- is now mid-November. The family is anxiously anticipating this day, and need a lot of encouragement to get through this final stage of a marathon of care. They would love any encouragement you might send via the web at www.caringbridge.org.

Congregational meeting set for Nov. 4th
Sure you can cast your ballot for president, but your vote can have even greater impact right here at PBF. Our members will review our annual budget, vote on the election of an elder to the board and get an overview of the upcoming year of the church. The meeting will be held at 4 PM Sunday, November 4th.
Dinner will be served at the meeting. A $3 donation per individual and a $10 donation per family would be greatly appreciated.
SPECIAL CHILDCARE INFORMATION
Childcare will be available for infants through second-graders. For care, you MUST RSVP by Friday at 4 PM. In order to have needed staff and food for the children, we CANNOT accept children without a prior reservation. For care, call Janet Flores at 360-692-6549 ext. 16 or send her an email at
janet.flores@peninsulabible.org. Please indicate how many children are attending and their ages. We will be providing buttered pasta, sliced hot dogs and apple slices for the children's dinner. If your child has a food allergy, or diet that cannot accommodate this meal, we will be happy to serve any food you provide. The children will also be watching Toy Story.
 | | CARL JOHNSON |
Carl Johnson will be seeking re-election to the
Elder Board. Carl and his wife Helen have been members of PBF since 1985.
In 1986, Carl was asked to join the Elder Board, where he served for 12 years, until 1998. It was also during that time that Carl served PBF as the Church Administrator in a part-time capacity. After a 10-year pause from service on the board, Carl was elected to a 4-year term in November 2008 with the option of serving a second 4-year term, if approved by the congregation.
During the 27 years that Carl & Helen have lived in Kitsap, they have been involved in many facets of the community. In 1985, Carl established Kitsap Outreach, which has held an annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast for the past 27 years. In 1991, both Carl & Helen committed themselves to ministry. Helen took on the responsibility as Director of the Pregnancy Resource Services of Kitsap County, and Carl began a marketplace ministry known as Marketplace CrossTalk, both of which continue to this day. It was also in 1991 that Carl served as the Vice Chairman of the Washington State Billy Graham Crusade, held in the Tacoma Dome and the Kingdome. Carl served as a member of the Central Kitsap School Board for 14 years, as well as the President of the Central Kitsap Community Council for 3 years. Here at PBF, Carl & Helen host a care group, and Carl is a co-teacher, along with Ted Berney, for the care group leaders. Carl is also the Community Relations Director for the Kitsap Alliance of Resources for Elders (KARE), and writes a monthly column on senior issues for the CK Reporter & Bremerton Patriot newspapers.

 The fast this week
At PBF, we are on a journey of discovery. A journey to listen to God's voice, to pray for the poor, especially the people of the Dominican Republic, and to join together as a body to completely renew our focus on Jesus.
Many in the PBF family are fasting -- in this case eating the diet of those in the Dominican Republic -- for 40 days. They are limited to eating things like: chicken, rice, black beans, citrus fruit, bananas and avacados.
During the course of the fast, we will be supporting in prayer and finances, the work of I Love Baseball (ILB). Tis mission helps young men in the Dominican Republic reach their full potential as students, role models, and leaders, but also as baseball players. Our goal is to provide the necessary baseball training, coaching, mentorship and equipment needed for all of our players to reach their maximum potential.
