2012 Annual Report for PBF
Annual Report available

The annual report is now available online. Click here for the link to the PDF.   Members, you may now pick up a printed copy  of the 2012 Annual Report available for review at the Welcome Desk.  Please take only one printed copy per family.  For questions, especially detailed budget questions, please call the main office so you can have those concerns addressed before the congregational meeting November 4th.

costume
Bring costumes Nov. 4th
to aid Girl Scout project
Bring your gently-used Halloween costumes to church November 4th, the Sunday AFTER Halloween, and place them in one of the collection laundry baskets in either foyer. They will be donated to Royal Family Kids Camp, which provides a week of fun, summer camp experiences for children in the foster care system. Children will use the costumes to play dress up during the camp.

PBF's own Kelsey Kim is coordinating the collection. She is working toward completing the requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award, the equivalent of the Eagle Scout designation for young women.

Women's Dessert Event
Get your decorating on!
Ladies, mark your calendars for the Women's Christmas Dessert to be held at at 6:30 PM Tuesday, December 4th.
We are looking for 34 women to decorate and hostess a table for six other ladies.  Last year was phenomenal with so many uniquely decorated tables and we are excited to do that again.  This year the theme is "LIGHT" and so we are asking that you somehow incorporate the element of light into your table design.  For more detailed info regarding table hostessing please call Tammi Keffer at 360-692-6549 or email tammi.keffer@peninsulabible.org.

I Love Baseball
I Love Baseball (ILB) is to help young men in the Dominican Republic reach their full potential as students, role models, and leaders, but also as baseball players.  Our goal is to provide the necessary baseball training, coaching, mentorship and equipment needed for all of our players to reach their maximum potential.

Update on David Reed

Many of you have asked about the status of David Reed, a child in our congregation whowas diagnosed with a brain tumor. David has been enduring radiation treatments at the University of Washington, and then returning to stay at Children's Hospital. While the radiation has not shrunk the tumor so far, it is not growing. Meanwhile, doctors have told the family he will likely be sent home with nursing care when the treatments are completed in early November. Although this is a tentative plan, those of you who have offered to provide meals for the family will most likely be called into action about that time. Also, David is starting to receive tutoring during his stay so that he won't fall too far behind his peers in his studies.

If you would like to help this weekend, please consider attending a fund raiser for the family.

New Life of PBF deadline

We are sending out the Life of PBF on Thursdays starting next week. (Completing the Annual Report took a significant amount of time this week, and the newsletter was pushed to the bottom of the pile.) If you would like something included in the online publication, it must be submitted to the main office by 4 PM Tuesday the week you would like it released in the email. As always, we love personal photos of the accomplishments and work of our PBF family in the community. Feel free to share them with us.

Sunday Missions Connection:
hear Bill and Jane Robinson
Bill and Jane Robinson will share how God used two very different individuals to begin a mission that is now viewed as a model by many mission organizations.

Bill and Jane Robinson are 40 year residents of Kitsap County.  They are graduates of the University of Washington  and Bill attended Dallas Seminary.  Married for 44 years, they have four children and seven grandchildren.

Since Bill's Freshman year at the U of W when he made a decision to follow Christ, his vision has been to see all people and nations (saved).  One local product of that vision was beginning what became Bremerton, South Kitsap, North Kitsap and Bainbridge Young Life.  Bill was approached in 1976 by a group of people who wanted to be a part of a church body whose mission was evangelism.  While Bill did not see himself as a pastor, he did see this fit his vision and thus Peninsula Bible Fellowship was formed.  During his tenure, PBF dedicated people in the church and finances to participate in the Great Commission goal of PBF.

After 24 years of ministry, the Elders agreed to Bill's request to be released as PBF's pastor in order to bring Christ to the very Gospel-resistant Basque people of Spain and France.  The basic premise of the mission is bringing Basques to the USA to spend one month with believing families who serve as Basque missionaries - without leaving home.  PBF was and remains instrumental in reaching the Basque.

congmeeting
Congregational meeting set for Nov. 4th
Carl Johnson
CARL JOHNSON

Sure you can cast your ballot for president, but your vote can have even greater impact right here at PBF. Our members will review our annual budget, vote on the election of an elder to the board and get an overview of the upcoming year of the church. The meeting will be held at 4 PM Sunday, November 4th.

Dinner will be served at the meeting. A $3 donation per individual and a $10 donation per family would be greatly appreciated.

Childcare will be available for infants through second-graders. For care, you MUST RSVP by November 2nd at 4 PM. For care, send Tonya Kipple an email at tonya.kipple@peninsulabible.org or call 360-692-6549 ext. 15.

Carl Johnson will be seeking re-election to the Elder Board. Carl and his wife Helen have been members of PBF since 1985.  In 1986, Carl was asked to join the Elder Board, where he served for 12 years, until 1998.  It was also during that time that Carl served PBF as the Church Administrator in a part-time capacity.  After a 10-year pause from service on the board, Carl was elected to a 4-year term in November 2008 with the option of serving a second 4-year term, if approved by the congregation.

During the 27 years that Carl & Helen have lived in Kitsap, they have been involved in many facets of the community. In 1985, Carl established Kitsap Outreach, which has held an annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast for the past 27 years.  In 1991, both Carl & Helen committed themselves to ministry.  Helen took on the responsibility as Director of the Pregnancy Resource Services of Kitsap County, and Carl began a marketplace ministry known as Marketplace CrossTalk, both of which continue to this day.  It was also in 1991 that Carl served as the Vice Chairman of the Washington State Billy Graham Crusade, held in the Tacoma Dome and the Kingdome. Carl served as a member of the Central Kitsap School Board for 14 years, as well as the President of the Central Kitsap Community Council for 3 years.  Here at PBF, Carl & Helen host a care group, and Carl is a co-teacher, along with Ted Berney, for the care group leaders.  Carl is also the Community Relations Director for the Kitsap Alliance of Resources for Elders (KARE), and writes a monthly column on senior issues for the CK Reporter & Bremerton Patriot newspapers.

FortyDays
Place at the Table 40 Days of Solidarity with the Poor
The fast continues...

Inspire me with your blog

At PBF, we are on a journey of discovery. A journey to listen to God's voice, to pray for the poor, especially the people of the Dominican Republic, and to join together as a body to completely renew our focus on Jesus.

Many in the PBF family are fasting -- in this case eating the diet of those in the Dominican Republic -- for 40 days. They are limited to eating things like: chicken, rice, black beans, citrus fruit, bananas and avacados. So far our fasters have lost pounds, lowered their blood pressure, and raised funds for the poor that would have otherwise been spent on food. But most important, they are growing in their relationship with Christ.

Learn more about the program on our web page.

Receive DAILY encouragement on your journey and the names of children in the Dominican Republic who would appreciate your prayers today  by visiting our blog.
