THE 2015 INTERNATIONAL
BREEDERS' CONFERENCE
As a worldwide community of breeders, owners and devotees united in the pursuit of excellence, The Pyramid Society takes very seriously its role of providing outstanding educational opportunities for the Egyptian Arabian community at large. Whether it's through reference materials, two-hour seminars and clinics at the annual Egyptian Event, day-long regional activities at members' farms, or in-depth breeders' conferences around the country, the Education Committee's pursuit remains one of excellence.
The 7th Annual Breeders' Conference held the weekend of August 21, 2015 in Princeton, New Jersey, and entitled "The Art of Breeding Egyptian Arabian Horses", encapsulated all the components of a first-rate conference: comprehensive educational materials; excellent panelists and leaders; wonderful hands-on projects and learning opportunities; as well as a heaping dose of camaraderie that is apparent when every attendee is equally passionate about their horses! Include visits to members' farms as part of the package and you've got the formula for an energized and overall incredible weekend.
The Pyramid Society thanks its attendees who joined us for this year's conference and also extends its sincere and heart-felt gratitude to Bait Al Arab State Stud of Kuwait, the Premier Sponsor for the 2015 Breeders' Conference, for making it all possible. We invite you to take a photographic journey through this link to witness just what an incredible conference it was. Additional thanks go to Keri Wright, our Education Chair, for his vision and expertise in bringing it all together, as well as to Lisa Cifrese & Richard Geha for hosting a portion of the conference at their beautiful Thornewood Farm. You'll also note visits to Eastern Star Arabians and Kisra Arabian Stud.

THERE'S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO CONSIDER LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Volumes can be spoken with two simple words about one's dedication to an organization: Life Membership. And so it is
with The Pyramid Society as well. As new Life Member Augusta Hammock recently stated, "I'm in this for the long haul. Those simple words describe my commitment to the Straight Egyptian horse, whose beauty and majesty inspire me every day, unconditionally." Certainly, the verbiage may vary from any of the 90 Life Members but the meaning will not.
It was with this kind of devotion to the Straight Egyptian that in 1969 Society founding members first created the definition of the Straight Egyptian horse, a definition which remains today as the standard for the worldwide Egyptian Arabian community. In summary, without their vision and dedication, there would be no Straight Egyptian Arabian. Nor would there be a Pyramid Society. And one must ask the question: "Where would the Straight Egyptian be without The Pyramid Society?" Therefore, what better way to help ensure the continued longevity and worldwide visibility of the Straight Egyptian horse than through Life Membership in The Pyramid Society? Life Members enjoy numerous benefits, but without a doubt the most rewarding intrinsic benefit of all is validating an organization they believe in.
There's never been a better time to step forward to join our growing family of Life Member supporters. As of January 1, 2016, the cost of a Life Membership investment will increase from $5,000 to $6,000, the first increase since the inception of Life Member dues. Your commitment to Life Membership by December 31st, 2015 will provide substantial savings, and for your further convenience, payment terms for up to two years are accepted. We invite your support and are extremely grateful for all of our dedicated Life Members.

*SAKR+++
(*Sultann x *Enayat)
When speaking of Egyptian Arabian performance horses there's one horse that immediately comes to mind as a performance legend - and that's *SAKR+++.
In Volume 1 of The SOURCE, Joe Ferriss writes, "It was as if he was a born celebrity. He had that look: bold and noble, lively eyes and lofty body language, the stuff that Bedouin poetry was made of..."
Sakr was bred by the EAO, and imported to Gleannloch Farms in 1970. Ultimately, Tom McNair and his "blood brother" Sakr would become inseperable Champions of the ridden classes in all of the major show arenas, culminating in more U.S and Canadian National Championships, Top Tens and other wins than any other Arabians of his time.

SEPTEMBER MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
|
| Barry Dearle with Ibn Al Riyah BJ (Imperial Mistaar x Imperial Karmah by Imperial Al Kamar) |
MEET THIS MONTH'S MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
BARRY DEARLE of
ALLI~BARR ARABIANS
Saskatoon, SK, CANADA
Barry's love affair with horses began in childhood. As he states, "My love for horses goes back a far as I can remember. As a young boy growing up I felt privileged to have half-Arabian horses and dreamed of the day I would own a purebred Arabian. That dream came true when I was able to acquire my beautiful gelding, Alli-Barr. Alli-Barr remained with me throughout his life and was a true soul mate and became the namesake for the farm.
It wasn't long before the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse caught my eye. I was taken in by their beauty and charisma. Setting out to learn more about the breeding programs of other farms, I learned there was a common link to every successful farm - great foundation broodmares. I've always admired the...

STRAIGHT EGYPTIANS OF HADAYA ARABIANS GRACE THE COVER OF THE ARABIAN HORSE WORLD MAGAZINE
The cover and lead article in the August issue of the Arabian Horse World Magazine, feature the beautiful Hadaya Arabians in upper Wisconsin, owned by Jaleen Hacklander.
Jaleen lovingly carries on her family's breeding program, which dates back to the 1970's. Many of the bloodlines that continue today still trace back to their original foundation mare, Ansata Nile Jewel (*Morafic x Falima), purchased by her parents over 40 years ago.
Jaleen states, "I would like to be known for preserving and improving the bloodlines that I am working with. I would hope that you would love to look at them and love to ride them."

IN MEMORY OF BARBARA VALLEE
(September 27, 1937 - August 31, 2015)
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Barbara Vallee, of Valee Arabians on August 31, 2015.
Barbara and her late husband Theron "Pat" first joined The Pyramid Society in 1978 and expressed their commitment through Life Membership in 1998. Her son Paul states, "Barbara was a lover of all creatures great and small. Her compassion for animals took precedence in all of her decisions and she rescued and cared for many in her life."
Perhaps the greatest result of this passion was her world-famous Straight Egyptian Stallion, Imperial Imdal (Ansata Imperial x Dalia).

ATTENTION: WE WANT TO FEATURE ACTIVITIES IN YOUR AREA IN OUR NEXT PYRAMID SOCIETY YEARBOOK

The Yearbook is designed to capture a snapshot of the key activities, gatherings, seminars, conferences, special occasions, show wins, and community outreach efforts that our members have been involved in throughout the past year. And YOU are the journalists! Think about what will make a good story when you're planning and participating in activities throughout the year!
Items for consideration in the Yearbook, published in the December issue of the Arabian Horse World, will be accepted through October, 2015.
Here are some helpful tips for things to do and not do if you want your member news to be considered for the next Yearbook:
DO...
- Take and send us pro-quality, high-res photos (at least 5x7in at 300dpi)...
- Consider hiring a professional photographer for larger gatherings...
- Consider getting the "high-res, for print" rights to your Show Win photos...
- Gather and send us some quotes (first-hand accounts make stories more interesting)...
- Make note of the key details - what, when, and where; who and how many attended?
- Be on the lookout for those "special" moments - something memorable - something exciting...
- For seminars and clinics - what were the "takeaway" messages?
- For presentations and shows - who were the "standout" horses?
- Remember, to actually send us your news - just email it to info@pyramidsociety.org...
DON'T...
- Use a cell phone as your primary camera...
- Just send us an ad - we're looking for a story! Take us somewhere...
- Only talk about your horses; we know they're great! We want to know what you're doing...
- Send us something that can't be edited or condensed, if needed...
- Assume we know who you're talking about (please, identify the We's, He's, She's and Me's)!
- Submit news that isn't primarily about Straight Egyptian or Egyptian-Sired horses/programs...
- Forget to send your news (we don't know if you don't tell us)!
Remember - we can help you write your story, but it's up to you to send in the content. Members make it happen - and that's YOU!
