THE PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Pyramid Society Members and Egyptian Arabian Enthusiasts:
I trust all of you are enjoying your summer with your horses; whether it be at other shows, trail or endurance riding, or simply watching them grazing in the pastures. They are great companions - and an important part of our lives. I wish to take this special opportunity to thank all members who responded to our annual Membership and Egyptian Event Survey. Although an excellent statistical response rate, it would have been wonderful to have heard from every single one of you as board decisions will be predicated on your feedback. Secondly, I also want to thank you for your tremendous support of this year's Tribute to Gleannloch Farms. No farm has left a stronger legacy, and it was extremely rewarding to see all our members and attendees embrace every aspect of this project. From the memories shared in the "Gleannloch Farms: The Legend and the Legacy," to Heritage pages in the Show Program, to your magnanimous support of our Silent and Showcase Auctions, your levels of support validated their relevance to our global Straight Egyptian community. Thank you again for making this "once in a lifetime" opportunity so meaningful as well as financially successful. If you have not yet purchased the Gleannloch Tribute book, you may still do so! In addition to recounting the Marshalls' lives, it is an excellent reference and research tool. Click here to order online, or call the office at 859-231-0771. And finally, I want to call your attention to the "Save the Date" in this newsletter for our first Regional Educational Workshop, to be held September 27 in Albuquerque, and hosted by our New Mexico members. This one-day format provides members and guests the opportunity to come together to talk horses, to see horses and to simply enjoy each other's company in this "Land of Enchantment." In addition to our National Breeders' Conferences, the goal, going forward, is for our members to have this basic template for hosting one-day activities in several parts of the country. Special thanks to our Education Committee and our members in New Mexico for making this a reality. I hope to see you there. It is a privilege to serve as your President, and please feel free to contact me with your questions or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Bob Miars
President

Lone Tamarak Arabians Celebrates its 10th Year!
John and Chris Kassay of Lone Tamarak Arabians are excited to report about their recent 10 Year Anniversary Celebration held at their farm in York, Ontario, Canada...
"We just wanted to thank all those who came out to help celebrate our 10th year breeding our wonderful Straight Egyptians. We had a wonderful sunny day with many special people there to help us out. We can't thank Bryan and Melinda Jefferies enough for driving all the way from Texas for us. Bryan presented our horses, and Melinda helped to MC and took some wonderful photos of this years babies for us. Peter Cameron and Bachir Bserani were great at keeping everyone amused with all their stories and information."
"We had another special guest with us, Ali Almimar, who brought some of his wonderful artwork for all to enjoy. Tara Porter and her special half-Arab, Shake It Up, showed everyone what costume is all about. John Bridge brought out our beautiful, black Arabian stallion Lamees Al Amar with just over two months of Western Tack training. We had many funny moments and lots of great feedback, but most of all, we enjoyed seeing our friends from all over North America another time this year and also meeting many new friends! Thank you all from us!"

Alia Riyala
The Pyramid Society extends condolences to Gary & Wanda Kenworthy upon the loss of Alia Riyala (The Minstril x Aliala), Paradise Arabians foundation mare and sire of herd stallion, The Singleton. The announcement from Paradise Arabians reads:
"It is with unimaginable sadness, nay, anguish, that we announce the passing of our beloved, Alia Riyala, the "matriarch" of Paradise Arabians. She passed from this earth on Sunday, July 6, 2014... She was the first Arabian horse that we owned. We met when she was just 4 days old, and we committed to purchase her on that day! We are proud to say that she shared her love, and the rest of her life of 20 years, with us. She gave us love. She gave us stories. She gave the Kenworthy family a life we had never before imagined."

Angela White of Roze Arabians in Elizabethtown, PA, is proud to wrap up a great junior Dressage career for her Straight Egyptian gelding, Escapade SHF...
"Escapade SHF's 2014 show season was short, but accomplished," she reports, "He wrapped up his final year as a junior horse earning a Regional Reserve Championship in the PB Junior Horse Training Level class and came away with two additional Regional Top Fives at the Region 15 Championships. During the season he pushed his career high score to 69.2%." Angela reports that Escapade SHF will continue training in the off-season to make his First Level debut in 2015!
In related news, The Pyramid Society noticed that Escapade SHF earned the "Featured Photo" spot in the August, 2014 issue of Equine Journal magazine on page 25! Way to go!

Kids Read to Horses at Round Mountain Arabians!
Laura & Gene Graves and the Egyptian Arabian horses of Round Mountain Arabians in Antreville, SC, recently hosted some special visitors for a fun and educational day...
Laura writes, "A group of charming and polite local children, attending a homeschool "day camp" with Lourdes Malone, got to read their favorite book to a horse! The horses Cashmere and Smoothie of Round Mountain Arabians enjoyed the attention of children reading and grooming them. Some of the participating children in this group had never been near a horse before, much less sat upon one! And, to the delight of the children, they were allowed to finger paint Cashmere! This proved to be great fun for everyone!"
Laura, long-time proponent of the Horse Tales Literacy Project (formerly the Black Stallion Literacy Project) is no stranger to these kinds of visits and also provided games, crafts and lunch for the group. "It proved to be a lovely educational day for all, even the adults!"
If you are interested in helping children embrace reading or would like to learn about the Egyptian Arabian horses at Round Mountain Arabians, please contact Gene or Laura Graves at gandg@wctel.net or 864-348-6300. "Visitors are most welcome, with prior notice, as the horses truly enjoy the attention and love encouraging children to become interested in reading."
