FEBRUARY PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Pyramid Society Members and Egyptian Arabian Enthusiasts:
As you may have seen on our Facebook page, there are several extremely exciting projects in the works at The Pyramid Society. I am pleased to tell you more about one of them: a brand new digital publication coming this spring entitled THE SOURCE. As the organization dedicated to the preservation, perpetuation and promotion of the Straight Egyptian Arabian horse as the premier source of classic Arabian type, the title could not be more appropriate! Designed to bring the Egyptian Arabian community relevant topics, enticing insights, and invaluable historical viewpoints, THE SOURCE will replace The Society's long-running Pyramid Report and will be published in three editions; Spring, Summer (post-Egyptian Event) and Fall. Released to our Members first, it will also be made available for download and archival for current Members and will then be promoted widely for free viewing by the broader Arabian industry as the go-to resource for Egyptian Arabian bloodlines. At the end of each year our goal is to provide the topics and articles available online in THE SOURCE, as well as additional materials, as part of a printed, annual publication. I look forward to sharing more information about this re-imagined yearly edition in the months ahead. I want to extend a special "Thank You" to our Marketing & P.R. Committee, chaired by Becky Rogers, for their untold efforts in making this vision a reality. The entire Board, staff and I are increasingly excited about the prospect of taking the Egyptian Arabian horse to the "digital street" in our continued efforts to reach more readers and further assist in educational pursuits with the Egyptian Arabian horse.
Sincerely,
Bob MiarsPresidentThe Pyramid Society

FEBRUARY MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Marion and Christina Murphy, Phoenix Rising Egyptian Stud, LLC, Cheraw, SC
"...the Pyramid Society has been a rock for the Egyptian breeder as a basis to any carefully constructed programs..."
In our February Member Spotlight, we take a visit to Phoenix Rising Egyptian Stud in Cheraw, SC, where the mother & daughter team of Marion and Christina Murphy are proud to add their story to the Egyptian Arabian narrative...
According to the Murphys, what began in 1976 as an Egyptian-related breeding program naturally progressed and grew. "The respected Straight Egyptian program we nurture today is the result of careful selection of horses descending from Ansata and Imperial bloodlines, especially those of Ansata Ibn Halima, Ansata Halim Shah, and Imperial Madeen," says Marion, "The focus of PRE's breeding program has been the concentration of these bloodlines, crossed with carefully chosen lines to other great individuals with similar pedigree features. Progeny from this breeding philosophy have resulted in horses stamped with excellence and consistency, long well-arched necks, athleticism, balance, and supreme movement. These horses have proven themselves in the show arena, in endurance competition, and in the breeding shed."
By Marion and Christina's own accounts, The Pyramid Society has been an invaluable resource for Phoenix Rising Egyptian Stud throughout the progression of their breeding program. "By providing the guidelines for success incorporated in the literature and reference materials available, assistance in the details of breeders' and exhibitors' endeavors, as well as the promotion available through the annual Egyptian Event, the Pyramid Society has been a rock for the Egyptian breeder as a basis to any carefully constructed program," they write. In addition to their active membership and ongoing support for the Pyramid Society, Marion and Christine are also members of the Imperial Shehaab Syndicate, the Arabian Horse Association, and the Western Carolina Arabian Horse Association, and they were Lifetime Breeders for Mishaal HP until his passing in 2013.
The Phoenix Rising Egyptian Stud farm is nestled in the Sandhills region of South Carolina. It boasts 69 acres of green rolling hills and a spacious and airy 23-stall barn. As noted in the farm's name, Phoenix Rising Egyptian Stud stands their own Straight Egyptian and Al-Khamsa stallions. Marion and Christina are proud to offer breedings to Phantom PR (Imperial Shehaab x Cashai), pictured, the 2013 Egyptian Event Reserve Champion World Class 3 Year Old Colt, East Coast Junior Champion Stallion, Top 5 East Coast All Ages, and Junior and Senior Champion Western Carolina Arabian Show... The Road to Paradise
Wanda Kenworthy of Paradise Arabians in LaFayette, GA, is eager to share the latest happenings on "the road to paradise!"
"In case you missed it..." she begins, "On January 25-26, 2014, Paradise Arabians hosted a Stallion and Breeding Clinic. With about 50 in attendance, we had a great group of people, from locals to out-of-state guests from as far away as California." The clinic was set up to be interactive, and attendees had the chance to get their questions answered about stallions, breeding, and foal care, among other topics. Paradise also took time out to honor Pyramid Society member Ms. Jeanette Longley's Eureka Zaki (Scapa x Dianaah), who took 3rd place for USEF's Horse of the Year Award for Arabian halter horses! "There were horse presentations, along with a special performance for the crowd by Equine Extremist Tommie Turvey. For the finale, the crowd met our new stallion, Shahil Pasha IA! It was a great event!"
The Kenworthys are also pleased to announce some new babies on the ground at Paradise. Wanda wishes to congratulate Nadine Pappas on her "New Year's" filly, Sanat al Sharazad; Stan and Shonda Thurman on their beautiful filly, Bint Al Nasseem; and Philip and Sue Lelievre on their spunky new Scapa colt.

Simeon Stud Has Successful 2014 Foaling Season
Marion Richmond of Simeon Stud sent in a report on some of the new foals recently welcomed in Australia...
"We are still foaling at Simeon Stud," she reports, "and so far we have three full siblings from our young stallion Simeon Shifran, our son from Asfour who is carrying on his sire's great legacy, and his partner "made in heaven," our gorgeous, black mare, Simeon Shatkin." Marion reports this duo have produced a black colt, a black filly, and a grey filly. "In addition, Simeon Sibolet has a beautiful, dark liver chestnut filly by our new German stallion, Mulayh Ibn Mareesa, and we have another liver chestnut filly by Simeon Shifran out of one of my favourite German mares,Mussalah, who is by Mulayh Ibn Mareesa (and one of the many reasons that we purchased that fine stallion)."
Two more mares are due to foal at Simeon Stud, which, according to Marion is considered quite late for farms down under! Nevertheless, she is expecting two lovely fillies, the first from Simeon Shoshana by Immesmerize, and the second by Mulayh Ibn Mareesa out of Simeon Saadia.

Thee Desperado Filly Arrives at Bayou Angel Arabians
Marci & Larry Kirby of Bayou Angel Arabians, LLC, in New Orleans, LA, are ecstatic about their new Thee Desperado filly...
"She has arrived!" Marci exclaims. "Meet Thee Bint Lotus Capri (Thee Desperado x Lotus Capri by Mishaal HP)" The photo seen here with Marci is at three weeks old. "We are so blessed to have one of the very last Thee Desperado foals to grace his Legacy!"
Thee Bint Lotus Capri was born on February 3, 2014, at Colthill Crescent Arabians and out of 2013 Egyptian Event Silver Champion Amateur Mare, Lotus Capri. "She not only carries on "Thee" infamous heritage, but also the Lotus Legacy," says Marci, "The Lotus Legacy are mares with tail female that trace back to *Omayma. Lotus means "fertile," and the mares from the rare *Omayma line have a tendancy to produce more females."
Bayou Angel Arabians' newest arrival also carries bloodlines of Thee Infidel, *Wanisa, *Bint Magidaa, *Magidaa, Mishaal HP, Ansata Sinan, and TheEgyptianPrince from her dam's side, and Thee Desperado, The Minstril, Asmarr, Ruminaja Ali, *Bahila, and TheEgyptianPrince from her sire's side. "We look forward to witnessing the magic from Thee Bint Lotus Capri that will make her beloved sire and all of us proud!"
Marci also reports that Lotus Capri will be bred to Kamal Ibn Adeed for a foal in 2015. Watch the Bayou Angel Arabians website and Facebook page for updates and more photos!

Melroy Classic Arabians Prepares for Several New Foals!
Michael and Donna Zimmerman of Melroy Classic Arabians in Bradbury, CA, are looking forward to an exciting spring, especially around April...
"We have done an extensive study of stallions available and that are outstanding crosses to our quality and beautiful mares," says Donna, "First, we are expecting a foal this year by Hadban Al Shaqab out of MC Elextris (The Elixir X AK Athena), full sister to twice Supreme Champion Mare and European Champion, MC Alexsis. She is due mid-April, and we're expecting the exceptional with this cross."
"Our second mare, Nakhda Java (CN Jericho x EAI Etheena), is bred to Kamal Ibn Adeed, a gorgeous, young champion stallion whose dam was Supreme Champion of the Egyptian Event. Java is a sister of 2013 Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Mare, TF Exotikah out of EAI Etheena. Java is also due mid-April."
"Lastly, MC Elextriss Dream, daughter of MC Elextris, is due - can you believe it - in mid-April from a breeding to Marajh KA (Makhnificent KA X Marquisah KA)."
"So, you can see we are not going to get any sleep in April," quips Donna! "These 2014 foals will be all show-ring quality and will join our beautiful MC Alia Safena (Botswana x Nakhda Java), pictured above, in our show string. MC Alia Safena went top ten in both the Pyramid Society Futurities and the EBC for 2013, despite being pretty sick from the long trip. Thanks to Gary and Kenny McDonald, who were very patient with her not feeling well. As a two year old, things should be easier on her; she is such a beautiful girl!"
Donna and Michael invite you to visit their Facebook page and website for the most recent foal photos and more!
