TRUTH & Rumors
|
-
In our last edition we wrote about SquashWorldWide.com and its overlap with NY Squash, which the Board of NY Squash and its legal counsel immediately rebutted and asked us to make a correction. - Evidently, SquashWorldWide had overstepped saying they were a part of NY Squash.
- But then, interestingly enough, the lawyer referenced by NY Squash as their legal counsel wrote to Squash Ezine to say NY Squash had overstepped, and he was NOT their legal counsel.
- Honestly, sometimes even we don't know what is Truth and what is only a Rumor.
- So many players tell us their favorite squash player is Jonathon Powers or Nick Matthews. Of course, neither player has an 's' in their name: Jonathon Power. Nick Matthew.
- Speaking of Nick, we heard he was in Boston helping out Phillip's Academy with an exhibition match. The nation's (arguably) best prep school is looking to build new courts and wanted (arguably) the world's best player to kick off the campaign.
- The night after Nick played an exhibition with close friend Thierry Lincou who is now coaching 'em up at MIT. Rumor has it Lincou beat Matthew in five.
- It was only an exhibition, but it was the first time the reigning PST Champ had a match with the reigning PSA Champ.
- We hear College squash coaches are going to be voting on their own pre-season top 25 this year.
- We'll want to see where we differ with the coaches. Squash Ezine's pre-season picks are here.
- If you've never been to a college squash match, you're missing out. The energy in the room when the nation's top teams are battling is as good as it gets. And you can't beat the price of the tix.
