TRUTH & Rumors

    • ShhMyriam Kelly     1
    • Joe McManus     0
  • US Squash's Dent Wilkens is hard working, talented and a genuinely good guy. He is also basically the face of College Squash at every big event.
  • College Squash now has professional referees at the national championships, which removes the obvious conflict of interest when the kids are refereeing their teammates.
    • However, some of the pro refs actually have less of a feel for the game than the elite kids.
  • Terence Li is now the Executive Director at City Squash in NYC. #GoodGuy #GreatGroup
  • Legendary coach Bob Callahan was feted by a packed house at Drexel University for his induction into the Men's College Squash Hall of Fame.
    • An appropriate acknowledgement for a coach who fought fiercely, within the rules, and shook your hand like a gentleman, regardless of the result.
  • At the reception, Princeton's current team captain didn't mind sharing his opinion with us about the "infamous" Truth and Rumors. #Ouch
  • Third year Columbia University coach Jacques Swanepoel will hit his stride this coming fall when his men's team takes a huge leap in the rankings. Wow, has he got some recruits coming in.
  • We hear Harvard's Mike Way has an impressive group of 5 men coming in, which will keep the Crimson at least in contention for a repeat of this year's national championship.
  • Jack Wyant grabbed a couple recruits, we hear, for the U Penn men's team that Princeton wanted to claim for themselves.
    • We also heard that the addition of Gilly Lane to the coaching staff really improved, well, everything.
  • Harvard's Amanda Sobhy now has three individual national championships to her credit. If she wins a record tying fourth next year, she'll join Gail Ramsay as the only other women's player in history to do so.  #NoPressure
  • Paul Assaiante just finished his 20th season at Trinity College.
    • In 20 years, his teams have won 97% of their matches (356-11)
    • His teams have won 14 out of the last 16 National Championships.
    • And he still deserves more credit than he receives as a coach.
