Suzie Pierrepont Out as WSA Tour Director

SquashMad.com broke the story. And according to Squash Mad, "Suzie Pierrepont, the WSA's acting Tour Director, is the latest big name no longer working for the women's game.

 

"Pierrepoint, a former professional Tour player who is based in Greenwich, New York is off the WSA pay-roll, players were told in the last few days."

Trinity Dominates NESCAC Tournaments

The NESCAC has hosted eight conference squash championships. And Trinity's men's and women's teams have taken home the title every year. And 2014 was no exception.

World Doubles Faces the Chop After Scots Bid Blocked

According to SquashMad.com, attempts by Scottish Squash to host the World Doubles Championships later this year have been thwarted in an ongoing behind-the-scenes political dispute.

TRUTH & Rumors

  • ShhThe WSA tour's challenges have been much chronicled in recent months.  
    • This past month an entirely new Board took over, and this past week they reached out to former Dutch champion Tommy Berden to see if his company Next Squash can help right the ship. 
  • When Harvard's men beat Trinity this week, it was the first time Trinity lost a home squash match in 18 years      
  • The women's college team championships are coming up later this month. Although Harvard remains the favorite, Princeton, Trinity, U Penn, and Yale all have a shot at the National Championship.
  • Mike Jefferys coached his Springside Chestnut Hill Academy squad to an undefeated regular season and won the Mid-Atlantic Squash Association High School Championships this past week. Jefferys is humble to a fault, but he may very well be America's top high school coach.  
  • Reports surfaced this week that wrestling spent $8 million in its bid to keep its place in the Olympic Games.  
    • Baseball's and squash's bids reportedly cost a combined $2 million.
  • Squash legend Thierry Lincou and his lovely wife recently welcomed their third child Gabriel to the world.
  • Add Hollywood hunk Hugh Jackman to the list of famous squash players. The Australian actor posted on his Instagram account (here) how much he enjoys playing squash.
