|
Nick Matthew (England) beat Gregory Gaultier (France) 11-9, 11-9, 11-13, 7-11, 11-2 to win his third PSA World Championship.
The match took 111 minutes to complete, and Matthew becomes the second oldest player in history to win the title. And he is one of only five players in history to win the title three or more times.

Question of the Week
| In this week's edition, we feature several videos of amateur players in common situations where a player is looking for a let/stroke.
Our decisions are summarized at the bottom of the Ezine.
There are several world class referees who read the Squash Ezine. We encourage them to send their decisions on the calls, and let us know where we got it right/wrong.

Thank you to Mark Bellinger who posted the majority of the videos. Very helpful.

TRUTH & Rumors
|
- Congratulations to James Willstrop and partner Vanessa Atkinson who are celebrating the birth of their first baby Logan. #PSA1in2040
- We couldn't help but notice that this year's College Squash pre-season rankings are nearly identical to last year's end of season rankings. Is it possible no one graduated, was recruited, or noticeably improved in the off-season?
- St. Lawrence University had to change its long-time logo this past year after Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals threatened legal action.
- Bates College didn't have to change its logo this past year. But they chose to. Their mascot is the Bobcat. But we think the new logo looks more like a pussycat.
- The interweb has been abuzz this week as merger talks have heated up between the PSA and WSA. If the WSA thinks they are treated unequally now, just wait. Two businesses never merge. One is always acquired.
- But the WSA, which still hasn't found a host for this year's championship event doesn't have much negotiating power these days.
- Legendary squash coach David Pearson told SquashMad.com that Nick Matthew is undeniably England's greatest player ever.
- Jahangir Khan's father Roshan Khan was a pretty good player himself. He won the 1957 British Open and reached the finals in 1956 and 1960.
- At that time, the British Open was regarded as squash's world championship event.
