Happy National Volunteer Week!

Each year, over 1 million Marylanders volunteer in their community. Whether by collecting and distributing food, assisting individuals in searching for jobs, or tutoring our youth - Marylanders have stepped up to lend a helping hand to create a brighter future for all. In recognition and appreciation for those who serve, Governor Larry Hogan has issued a proclamation announcing April 12-18 as National Volunteer Week.

 

Join us in honoring the people who take action and solve problems in their community. Our office supports volunteer recognition efforts by offering a number of volunteer recognition tools. From state-wide events, like the Governor's Service Awards and the Honor Rows program, to volunteer certificates awarded to individual citizens, there are many ways to recognize the extraordinary service of volunteers. 2015 Governor's Service Awards

 

The GOSV is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Governor's Volunteer Service Awards! 

For over 30 years, the GOSV has honored extraordinary service through the awards ceremony. This year, the ceremony will recognize volunteer service during 2014 (or longer for a lifetime achievement award).  

Nominations for the awards must be submitted via an online form by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015.

2015 Destination AmeriCorps

On May 15, AmeriCorps members and alums are invited to join the GOSV and Volunteer Maryland for Destination AmeriCorps! 

 

Now in its sixth year, Destination AmeriCorps is still the best event for AmeriCorps members and alums to have fun, network, and learn what others are doing to get things done.

In recognition of volunteerism and the positive impact service has on the community, the GOSV is announcing a new funding opportunity for Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) grantees!

 

Current CNCS grantees can request $1,000 - $3,000 (a match is required) to support service projects taking place between August 15 and September 27, 2015. Special consideration will be given to proposals that feature innovative volunteer recruitment plans or tie in with either the September 11 Day of Service and Remembrance or Maryland's Day to Serve initiative.
