UnDressed: An Exposé of Conceptual Garments and Accessories May 7-June 29

Curated by Rose Sellery, UnDressed explores the realm of apparel beyond the conventional limitations of fabric, needle and thread. Expect the unexpected in this exhibit of curious, intriguing, narrative garments and accessories that utilize traditional methods, as well as experimentation with unusual materials, tools and techniques to create surprising, witty and thought provoking conceptual pieces and installations. Rose is joined by forty artists, who share this exploration at two venues.
This exhibition will be held simultaneously in two galleries, at PVAC and the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Art (SCICA). The reception at SCICA will be on Friday, May 16 from 6:00-8:00 PM, located at 1050 River Street #127 at the Tannery Arts Center, Santa Cruz.

This show is for PVAC members only, so join now if you would like to participate! For this show, you
are invited to help us commemorate PVAC's 30th Anniversary by participating in our annual membership exhibit. Join in by creating one piece of artwork inspired by the rich heritage of the past, the beauty of the present and/or the promise of the future. Just download and print the entry form, follow the directions, and turn it in by June 5 to enter. When your piece is done, be sure to fill out the loan agreement and send it in, or bring it with you when you drop your piece off on June 25th.
Need more inspiration? PVAC is partnering with the Pajaro Valley Historical Association to offer a unique experience to our member artists. You will have the opportunity to visit their beautiful site to gain inspiration for your artwork.
Visit the Historical Association's oak-studded grounds which are ideal for Plein Air painting. Or explore the lovely Bockius-Orr Victorian mansion. The vast, intriguing collections can provide thematic inspiration for modern interpretations in all kinds of media. Your own personal artistic vision of our community's past, present or future is also welcome.

Help us ensure that all California students have a chance to develop their creativity, their voices and their imagination through the arts. Join the Student Voices Campaign!
The Student Voices Campagin offers students a platform to share their creativity and passion for the arts directly with their elected officials. Students are invited to create and upload original videos of two minutes or less that respond to the question 'What Does Your Creativity Look Like?' at studentvoicescampaign.org by May 31, 2014. Students can perform, draw, speak, sing, dance, or animate their responses.
