Reception: August 25, 2-4PM
Connie Grant and Penny Waller have curated an incredibly beautiful exhibit that showcases glass artists from the greater Monterey and San Francisco Bay Areas. They have selected 120 spectacular pieces by forty-one artists, many of whom are nationally and internationally acclaimed. As you walk through the gallery, you will discover beautiful vessels, sculptures, wall pieces, furniture, lamps, and neon. Most work is for sale, and we have some pieces that you can take home at the time of your purchase! A companion catalog is in the works. We think this show is a stunning overview of the contemporary use of an ancient material.
We thank our exhibit sponsors Heil Properties, Annieglass, and East Bay Batch Color for funding the exhibit; Penny and Connie for putting so much time and expertise into making a wonderful exhibit; and our dedicated staff and volunteers for their support of the curators and the care they took in displaying the artwork.

At Sierra Azul
Sculpture Is 2013
June 1 - October 31, 2013
PVAC proudly presents our seventh annual sculpture exhibit at Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens. Jeff Rosendale, owner of the nursery and host to our show, has created a magical environment. The goal of Sierra Azul is to promote the aesthetic use of Mediterranean climate adapted plants in water-conserving gardens and landscapes. If you haven't visited yet, stop by and stroll the display gardens, shop for your garden, and enjoy the sculpture exhibit through the end of October. Wear your sun screen, put on your walking shoes, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy this exceptional exhibit.
Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens is open 9:00am to 5:30pm daily. Located at 2660 E. Lake Avenue, Sierra Azul is right across the street from the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds.

Mi Casa es Tu Casa: Passages
Deadline for Entry, 9/20/13
 |
Summer Rhee-Pizano (C)
|
PVAC invites you into our "home" to participate in Mi Casa es Tu Casa by building an altar to remember and celebrate those who you have lost. You are encouraged to interpret the Da de Los Muertos altar-making tradition in any manner that honors your own experiences and beliefs. This year's theme is "Passages." Boats are symbolic of passages as well as the journeys and transitions that we make in life and in death. We ask that you incorporate some representation of a boat, journey, or method of passage in your altar. Download your entry form here.
Call for Artists, Local
Monterey Bay Birding Festival
The Ninth annual Monterey Bay Birding Festival will open in Watsonville on Thursday, September 12, and wrap up on Sunday, September 15. Birders, both local and out-of-state, gather here to participate in field trips throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and San Mateo Counties, and to listen to nationally known speakers. Birding festivals traditionally offer a place for vendors to display all things related to birds. Our vendors will exhibit in the Community Room at the Watsonville Civic Center.
If you're an artist whose focus is on birds, we'd love to have you participate, either as an individual or as a group. Charges for an 8' square booth vary, depending on profit or nonprofit, sales or no sales status.
If interested, contact Pamela King at [email protected].
After September 5, contact Sue Dumller:
