Reception: Sunday, January 20 from 2:00-4:00 PM

Exhibit Dates: January 16-February 17

New Hours: Wednesday-Sunday 11:00 AM-4:00 PM

Join us for our reception on Sunday!  This exciting exhibit features close to 400 small format pieces by 54 fabulous fine artists, who have been invited because like magicians, their artwork shows mystery, mastery and outstanding dexterity!  Their work looks like legerdemain, effortless, MAGIC!

This exhibit is stunning! Each artist is showing a cohesive grouping/series of work. There is a tremendous variety in terms of subject matter, media, color, and texture. You will see painting, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramic, glass, mosaic, and fiber. Each room of the gallery has a personality, and we know you will enjoy the variety of styles represented.

We are doing something completely "off the wall" for PVAC, in that we are letting our patrons take pieces home as they are purchased. Artists will renew their groupings throughout the show, so visit more than once to see how the exhibit changes. All pieces will be for sale, and most pieces are $300 and under. You will have the opportunity to win, via raffle, some valuable, terrific pieces of art donated by the Board and Gallery Committee of PVAC.

We want to thank Skip for all that he does for PVAC.  After Mi Casa, we spent a few days painting, caulking, and cleaning. Skip was right there with us, making sure the gallery was ready for Sleight of Hand.  He has spent numerous hours helping with hanging this exhibit, and might we say, his height helped us hang "Sleight!"  Skip is one of our "go-to" people when we are hanging shows, need technical advice, and just want someone fun with whom we can work.  Thank you Skip!
Thank You!
Mi Casa Erika Ismerio
Erika Ismerio/Wall & Altars Designed by Tracy Le Croy

We closed this year out with another stellar exhibit: Mi Casa es tu Casa.  We can't thank Tracy Heller-LeCroy of Wild Rose Artist' Supplies enough for curating this community event.  Not only did she volunteer hours of her time, but her in-kind donations made this year's show an event!  The altars were fabulous, the reception was festive, and attendance levels and school tours were at an all time high.  In addition to the community altars in the gallery this year we exhibted internationally recognized Papel Picado (cut paper) artist, Catalina Delgado Trunk. Tracy and her Wild Rose crew framed all of  this amazing collection of Mexican folk art which was loaned to us from the collection of Cheryl Marquez, of Tortilla Flats in Soquel.   We thank guest curator, Tracy Heller-LeCroy of Wild Rose Artists' Supplies and Custom Framing, for working so hard to present another spectacular celebration of Dia de Los Muertos.

In Our Community:

The San Francisco based Creative Work Fund (CWF) has invited artists and nonprofit organizations to apply for grants for collaborative projects featuring traditional or visual artists.  If you are an artist who attended one of the workshops, and are looking to collaborate with the Pajaro Valley Arts Council,  please contact us at [email protected] to discuss your proposal by January 31, 2013.

Santa Cruz County Artists of the Year
Featuring the 2013 Honoree Susana Arias

March 6-April 14

Each year, the Santa Cruz County Arts Commission selects an amazing artist to be honored.  Over the last 27 years, this award has been bestowed upon visual artists, musicians, composers, authors, dancers and choreogrophers, as well as two arts organizations.  In this show, we will present the work and/or biographies of all those who have been honored over the years.
