Jumpstart Your Business


Career Management

 

We all need to have control of our careers...whether working for someone else or running our own business. In this era, many people are expected to have 6-7 careers over the course of their worklife. It's ideal to be prepared for the next opportunity.

  

Dream Job

Describe your dream job. What type of organization would you like to work for? Do you want to start your own business? What types of interactions and activities would you like to fill your day?

 

Identify Skill Set

Make a list of all of your skills. These may be activities that you currently perform at work, or in a hobby or volunteer situation. Are you able to use these skills in a new job situation? For a new position or starting a business, do you need additional training? While with your current organization, register for courses or seminars that will expand your professional skills. Lifelong learning increases your value in the workplace.

  

Develop a Plan

Create a plan for your new opportunity. How long will you need to achieve your goal? Take the time to build relationships. Do you know someone in the type of position or field you would like to get into? Be sure to ask key questions to find out as much as possible. At intervals, review your plan and adjust if needed. It's a great way to track your progress and keep you motivated!
