Last Thursday we held our Awards for Chamber Excellence (ACE) and Annual Meeting Luncheon featuring a keynote address by Ian Altman, Amazon #1 best selling author of Upside Down Selling. Nearly 250 guests joined us at the Sheraton Reston Hotel as we installed the new officers and Board members and presented ACE Awards to those companies and individuals who demonstrated excellence as Chamber and community members during 2012-2013. Outgoing Chairman, C. Michael Ferraro of TRAINING SOLUTIONS, Inc., passed the gavel to Incoming Chairman, Jane E. Raymond of Reston Hospital Center. Karen Cleveland of Cleveland Coaching Group was elected by the membership as the Chair-Elect for 2013-2014. INC.SPIRE AND THE BALLSTON BID JOIN FORCES
INC.spire Education Foundation, the 501(c)3 subsidiary of the Chamber, and Arlington's BallstonBID have joined forces in the launch and support of the Launchpad Challenge, a ninety day startup business accelerator. Together the two organizations are seeking the "next big idea" in the Northern Virginia startup arena. Selected companies will be nurtured through the 90 day period and will have the opportunity to ultimately pitch to Ted Leonsis, sports team owner, venture capital investor, filmmaker, author and philanthropist. Bruce Mancinelli, Executive Director of INC.spire, is one of the Launchpad judges and mentors. More than 220 entries were submitted and only ten and four alternates selected for the program. We are proud to share that two of INC.spire's own incubatees were selected for the finals: TidWit and CTBIM, pictured above. The winner of the challenge will be announced in November 2014.
