APC Ceramics in Medical Devices
Piezoelectric Ceramics Drive a Wide Range of Medical Devices

APC manufactures both OEM and replacement parts incorporated in a wide range of medical devices. APC's piezoelectric ceramics have been used in everything from fetal heart monitors and diagnostic ultrasound to a variety of micro-motors used in surgical applications. Piezo motors require lower voltage, generate less heat, are non-magenetic, and are more compact than conventional electromagnetic motors. APC has produced piezoelectric ceramics used in fetal heart monitors for over twenty-five years. Parts used in fetal heart monitoring equipment often have similar traits:

  • Common diameters ranging between 3/8" and 5/8"
  •  Frequencies between 1 to 3 MHz are typical
  • May include a wrap around electrode
  • Can be supplied with leads attached
  • Complete sub-assembly manufacture is available
  • Comprehensive quality control

Beyond simply manufacturing the piezoelectric ceramics, APC's joint development programs, contract manufacturing, and assembly services frequently play a key role in these types of business partnerships.
