Greetings!
A hearing was held yesterday for HB 1039, Patient Access to Physical Therapy, in the House Committee on Public Health. TPTA considers the hearing a huge success. We are grateful for the many that stopped by the Capitol to drop a card of support for the bill, and especially grateful the TPTA members that provided oral testimony, including Michael Connors, Cynthia Fisher, Nick Patel, Mike Geelhoed, Jennifer Kish, Kathleen Manella, Matt Walk, Allan Besselink, Ben Keen and Jarod Carter. Be sure and thank these members when you see them! Opposition testimony to HB 1039 was provided by the Texas Orthopaedic Association, as well as a PT who works for a POPTS group. The Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine also provided testimony against the bill.
The hearing video may be viewed on the Texas House of Representatives web site (4/10/13, Public Health), or by clicking the video links below. There are two separate videos. On Part I of the video, forward to 1:13:42. The second video begins with the continuation of our bill hearing.
