REV. BRENDA SPEAKING THIS SUNDAY; SUMMIT BAND PERFORMING 

Please join us at 10 a.m. this Sunday as Rev. brenda continues her exciting "Thriving Unity" series. This week we'll explore collaboration and team focusing co-creating a thriving Unity village here at UCR. We'll further deepen our individual commitment to being spiritually healthy, mature Unity villagers.Special music will be provided by The Summit Band, which is a jazz quartet featuring John Hall on bass and vocals, John Reasoner on guitar and vocals, Scooter Vineburgh on percussion, and Peter Hart on tenor sax. This quartet performs standards and originals that will please any audience. The Summit will begin with a prelude concert at 9:45 and play a postlude as well as during the service.

 

UNITY YOUTH TO JOIN SPIRIT CHOIR OCT. 20

The youth will be singing with the spirit choir for a special number at the Sunday service on Oct. 20. To prepare for that, we will hold a 20-minute youth rehearsal this Sunday after the service in the sanctuary. All interested children are invited!

 

JOIN THE "ESPECIALLY FOR YOU" WALK/RUN

Cory Matejka is walking in the Mercy Medical Center "Especially for You" fundraiser for breast cancer awareness  this Sunday (Oct. 13) at 8 a.m. There's still time to participate. To join Cory, contact her at 319-560-6710 on Skype for free. You can do the walk and still make it in time for Sunday service!

 

UNITYCR PRESENTS AUTHOR JANET CONNER

Author Janet Conner will be presenting two workshops at UCR on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The morning workshop is titled "Writing Down Your Soul," which entails helping you activate that connection and keep it alive and overflowing with guidance and grace. The afternoon workshop, is titled "The Lotus And The Lily" and cracks the abundance code by linking the wisdom of your inner voice with the surprising parallel teaching of Buddha and Jesus to create personal receptive conditions. The cost of these workshops is $25 in advance, $30 at the door, plus $10 for lunch. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. Janet will also be our guest speaker on Sunday, October 27, and will present a workshop from noon to 2 p.m. that day called "Unravel the Great Paradox."

 

HALLOWEEN AND AUTUMN CELEBRATION IS COMING UP

Children of all ages are encouraged to join us Sunday, Oct 27, when we will have a Halloween / autumn celebration during our usual youth ministry time and for a little while afterwards in the commUnity room. We'll make a dessert to share with the congregation, plus, we'll have several "stations" for games, face painting, crafts, music, and more. Kids can wear a costume if they want to. Older kids and/or adults are welcome to help and join the fun. See Laura Meade for more information.

 

MEMORIAL FOR DANNY VERMAZEN

A memorial service will be held at UCR on Saturday Oct 19 at 1 p.m. for Danny Vermazen. 

  

 

MEDIUM ROBERT BACA AT UCR OCT. 17

Robert BacaCome and enjoy psychic medium Robert Baca's "Messages and More," on Thursday, October 17 from 7-9 p.m. at UnityCR. In addition to having the gift of communicating with those loved ones who have crossed over, Robert can foresee and share insights on present and future aspects of a person's life. No reservations are accepted for this public event.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $20 (plus a donation of 5 food items) or $25 at the door.
