SETH BRAUN GUEST SPEAKER SUNDAY; WORKSHOP FOLLOWING

Seth Braun will be the guest speaker for our 10 a.m. service Sunday. He will weave tales of tension and triumph lifted from his most recent speaking tours in the US and Canada with his talk, "Road Warrior Stories: New Thought Field Notes." With wit and wisdom, Seth will share insights and other profound (and humorous) "Aha! " moments from the road. After the service, at 11:45, Seth will be offering a workshop titled "The Miracle Action Plan" where you will learn:

  • How to get unstuck anytime
  • The secret to successfully navigating times of transition
  • The steps successful people know to stop sabotage
  • The 5-Step process for conscious creation

Most importantly, you will learn how to fine tune the relationship between imagination, emotion and beliefs. This is subtle work. You'll get to actually change the energetic fabric of creation in one major area of your life. The results? Miracles! This workshop is being offered on a 'love offering' basis.

ED EAST IS THIS WEEK'S GUEST MUSICIAN

Ed East was born and raised in Panama City, Panama where he studied classical guitar, percussion and trumpet. He

Ed East

performs Central American, South American and Caribbean Folk-based music as a member of several groups. Ed also performs world music as a singer/guitarist playing classical and synthesized guitar.

PROJECT REBUILD OPEN MEETING OCTOBER 6

Have some ideas about how to reconstruct the areas of the building damaged by the car crash last month? The UCR Board would love to hear from you! Join us following the service on Sunday, October 6, at 11:30 a.m. in the Strong Room to discuss reconstruction.  Please come prepared to discuss the specifics and estimated cost associated with your ideas. If you have an idea but are not able to attend the meeting, please submit it in writing to a board member and note the highlights of your proposal.  Sometimes great opportunity comes disguised as an impossible situation, and we trust that if we are to improve upon our building, the divine idea is just waiting to be expressed!

STILL TIME TO JOIN THE BOOK STUDY

Our book study of "Living Originally: Ten Spiritual Practices to Transform Your Life" by Robert Brumet had a great turnout of seekers last week. Books are still available for $15 at the UnityCR Book Store. Get your copy, review chapters 1-3 and join the lively discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 6-8 p.m. For any questions feel free to contact Glady at 319-362-2242 and/or Paula at 319-721-1759.

UPDATE FROM THE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
MAINTENANCE TEAM

We are invigorated (more so than the weeds growing outside), and aim to please. Our Mission is to stay one step ahead of those weeds. We have a new charter, and a renewed focus on growing not only beautiful flowers, but growing the size and involvement of our Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Team. We are looking for energetic and knowledgeable people to become core members of our team. If you have any interest and/or knowledge in building maintenance or love to garden and have a desire to assist us in the beautification efforts of our church, please contact Gary Gilbert at 319-892-3108 or gdgilbert58@yahoo.com. We need people to help plan, coordinate, motivate, and of course, invigorate. We will have a special Buildings and Grounds meeting on October 13 after Sunday Service at 11:30. Please come to inquire about ministry activities and bring ideas on how we can beautify our grounds to renew our commitment to the Earthcare Covenant.

NOMINATIONS TEAM IS FORMING FOR 2014 UCR BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION

In accordance with UCR by-laws, Rev brenda, Board Member Glady McMellor and Congregational Representative Cindy Hathaway will be meeting in early October to select a second congregant to serve on our Nominations Team. This team is charged with the all-important task of selecting potential members who are ready and willing to step into a leadership position on the Board of Trustees.  Our Board of Trustees elections will be held at our annual meeting in January, 2014.  We invite YOU to prayerfully consider if this is your time to serve UCR in this way.  We also invite all to hold the team and the nominations process in prayer.
