REV. BRENDA CONTINUES "WHAT IS UNITY;"  METRO MIX CHORUS SINGING

Join us for week four of our sizzling summer series, "Unity-Speak."   This week we'll discuss the art of co-creation.   How do we cooperate with Divine Law to manifest the life we truly want to live?  We'll learn about our tool-kit of co-creation with a bit of 'how-to' tossed in. Special music will be provided by the Metro Mix Chorus. This vivacious group of women loves to sing four-part barbershop harmony as a part of Sweet Adelines International. The group pulls members from a 60 mile radius of Iowa City, hence the name Metro Mix Chorus. Come and hear what the fuss is all about! We'd love to have you join us.

HEALTHY CONGREGATIONS WORKSHOP

This Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Jan Griffith and Susan Liddell will be presenting a fun and interactive workshop on anxiety. We will learn a bit more about the causes of anxiety and how it affects our physical and mental health. We also know it can affect those we love and those with whom we work. Often our anxiety rises when we are not feeling heard by others so we will also be honing our listening skills during this workshop. Join us for a great discussion and practical learning experiences. BONUS! Beth Parker will be providing a luscious dessert and drinks for attendees. Everyone is welcome!

MTL MEETING WILL FOLLOW THE WORKSHOP

The Ministry Team Leaders meeting is happening from 1-1:30 p.m., right after the Healthy Congregations meeting. All MTLs are expected to attend. We will have the opportunity for MTLs to give updates on their Ministry Team activity and plans, and changes for the future. This is a great opportunity for collaboration with other Ministry Teams so please plan to attend.  RSVP to Susan Liddell liddelles@aol.com.

UPDATE ON "PROJECT REBUILD"

This past week, Rev. brenda and board member Jim Healy met with representatives from two insurance companies regarding damage from the SUV that struck our building.  We have the green light to begin clean-up of the damaged area. Members of the board held a special meeting Tuesday evening to discuss our first steps.  A professional service has been hired to clear the construction debris.  Our next step will be to inventory each and every item that was in the damaged area of the building.  That inventory will be submitted to the insurance company for reimbursement. Our Board of Trustees will do our best to keep you informed of progress on a weekly basis.

JAMES BARGER AND DANNY VERMAZEN MAKE THEIR TRANSITIONS

James Barger (86), a long-time UnityCR member, made his peaceful transition on Sunday, August 4.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  We send prayers of love to Jim's family.

Danny Vermazen, a member of UnityCR who had been living in Arizona, made his transition on Saturday, August 3.   Plans will be made at a later date for a memorial service here at UnityCR.  Our prayers are with Shelly Vermazen and family as they move through this time.
