SPECIAL SUNDAY SERVICE: TOP 12 OF 2012
This Sunday morning - our last of 2012 - the 10 a.m. service will have an unusual and unique format. You can expect an interactive spiritual experience, including sharing your top 12 highlights of 2012. An example might be a Sunday message that had significant impact on your personal spiritual journey. Maybe one of your top 12 spiritual experiences at UCR this year was one of our many outstanding musicians. Did you have a wonderful moment in a small group ministry activity? In the Sacred Grounds & Books Store? How about a chat over brunch? Perhaps you had an "ah-ha" moment in one of our many classes. Naturally, there are a myriad of moments to recollect. Please do so and plan to share them at our Sunday service this week. Rev Brenda will compile a top 12 list for the UCR year. Come one, come all to this innovative service! Bring your spiritual highlights with you!
FLUTIST JONNY LIPFORD PROVIDING SUNDAY'S MUSIC
C ritically acclaimed and award-winning instrumentalist Jonny Lipford will provide the special music for Sunday's service. Jonny has taken the Native American flute "outside the box" and successfully branded himself as being the most ambitious flutist in the music industry. Alex Henderson of Billboard writes, "Lipford plays his Native American wooden flutes with plenty of charm and charisma; on top of that, his writing is consistently memorable."
NEW YEAR'S EVE SERVICE AT 7 PM
Rev. brenda will guide us through an interactive service that will consist of reflecting on areas of life where we have incongruencies and those for which we're grateful. Then we will transform any thought that keeps us from our Highest Good. Finally, we'll allow space in consciousness for our highest intentions to become manifest. We'll write, we'll burn, and we'll light up our God-Light! Who can stand to miss out on all that? Special music will be provided by harp player Katharine Bergman, a recent Washington High School graduate and current music major at Luther College. We are looking forward to hearing her beautiful music at this special service.
MOVIE NIGHT ON FRIDAY, JAN. 4
Join Richard and Laurie Moritz as they host another "Movies with Moritz" next Friday night, January 4. The movie "The Adjustment Bureau" will begin at 7:07 p.m. sharp (as at the movies, if you're late you will miss the beginning), in the Strong Room. Ages 16 and above are welcome to attend, and childcare will be provided on site by certified caretakers. This is a FREE activity, and popcorn and candy will be provided on a love offering basis. You can watch the trailer for the movie at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1385826/ . There will be an intermission and a discussion following the film. We hope to see you there!
