AFFIRMATION

The Spirit of God Renews Me

REV. BRENDA TO SPEAK AND ANJI KAT TO PERFORM

Please join us for at 10 a.m. for our Sunday service when Rev. brenda Anji Kosirog2will kick off the Advent Season with her spiritual message titled "O Come All Ye Faithful". Plus UnityCR's Anji Kat will provide the special music. Anji lends pure vocals with smooth, skilled phrasing to both original songs and cover tunes, effortlessly blending folk, jazz and blues stylings with a sprinkling of prairie-sunshine pop. It was her grandfather, a self-taught jazz drummer, who dubbed her "Anji Kat" and introduced her to the world of music.

ANGEL TREE GIFTS DUE DECEMBER 4

A big thanks to those of you who chose a Holiday Angel tag from the Christmas tree at UnityCR. Please return the gifts, UNWRAPPED, with the tag attached by Tuesday, December 4. (Note: last week's e-Newsweekly had the wrong date.) Save yourself a trip and bring them with you Sunday!

SEEKING FOOD AND STUFFED ANIMAL DONATIONS

In addition to the Angel tree, there are other opportunities to give. From now until December 16, we are accepting donations of new stuffed animals. We'll fill them with love before taking them to various community agencies that will pass them out to children as the need arises. Also, we are collecting non-perishable food items for the Linn County food bank and cash donations for the food bank until December 16. Thank you all for your generosity during this time of the year.

SUSAN'S SALON CHANGED TO THIS SUNDAY

Due to a holiday scheduling conflict, Susan's Sunday Salon will be held this Sunday at 9AM. Please join us for pastries and great conversation! Our topic this month will be, "What is your gift to yourself this season?" We're talking about the unwrapped kind of gift, such as loving who you are right now or taking quiet time for yourself. Come and share your ideas about taking good care of your Spirit this holiday season.

MOVIE NIGHT ON DECEMBER 7

Laurie and Richard Moritz are hosting a movie night on the first Friday of every month in the Strong Room at UCR. The film rolls at 7:07 p.m. sharp (if you're late you will miss the beginning), and ends at 9:30 p.m. Anyone aged 16 and above is welcome to attend and child care will be provided by certified caretakers. The cost is FREE, and popcorn and candy will be provided on a love offering basis. December's movie is "Nativity" and you can watch the trailer at : http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/nativity-2009/trailers/. This movie is not rated, and there will be an intermission and a discussion following the film. We hope to see you there!

JONAS MAGRAM SPEAKING, GIVING WORKSHOP ON DECEMBER 9

Jonas Magram will be our guest speaker for the Sunday service on December 9. His talk is titled, "Living Peace Here and Now." He is also offering a workshop from 11:45-1:45 p.m., "How to experience greater love during the holidays and every day." The holidays are certainly a time for celebration. Yet, for many, they also are among the most stressful times of the year, where the reality of unhealed energies often collides with our high expectations. In this two-hour workshop, you will learn a simple, easy-to-practice techniques you can use to release old energies that restrict your capacity to give and receive love, not just during the holidays, but all year around. Jonas Magram is a regular UnityCR speaker who has taught and practiced tools for transformation for over 40 years. His teaching style is joyful, interactive, personal and practical. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer and the cost is $15 per person and $25 per couple.
