AFFIRMATION

To attract abundance, be grateful for what you have now.

"HANDS AND HEARTS" SERVICE SUNDAY

This Sunday's service has become an annual tradition at UnityCR, as we celebrate every village member who has given so graciously of his or her time and talent. Three congregants will share their experience of being the heart and hands at UnityCR. After the 10 a.m. service, plan to stay for our traditional Thanksgiving meal, prepared and served by the UCR Board of Trustees and Licensed Leaders. It is our way of showing the LOVE for our spiritual commUnity.

JOEL MYERS GUEST VOCALIST SUNDAY

Our own Joel Myers will provide the special music at this  Joel Myers Sunday's service. Joel's spiritual path led him to Unity CR in 2000 and he became a member in 2011. He currently serves on the Welcoming Ministry, sings in the choir and volunteers for special events. Joel's love of performing was boosted during high school when he was cast as the lead male role in five musical productions.  Joel has also participated in the UI's Summer Repertory Theatre and he continues to perform in musical variety shows that benefit hospice, domestic violence programs, Shelter House, and Ronald McDonald Charities.  The music he has chosen to share with us is inspired by the love he holds for his Unity CR family.

"THANKS-4-GIVING" EVENT FOR VOLUNTEERS

The sharing of your time and talent at UnityCR in 2012 is greatly appreciated. As part of the Thanks-4-Giving celebration, everyone who has volunteered at UCR will be honored with a wellness day experience. This Saturday, November 17, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., volunteer practitioners will offer massage therapy, hand massage, reiki, healing touch, crystal reading, and essential oils. Sessions will start at 10 a.m. and occur in 30 minute increments. A few slots are still available, please call Susan Liddell at (319) 389-3132 to schedule. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you for helping to make UnityCR great!

CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATION TOMORROW

There is a correction from last week's e-Newsweekly. We will be putting up our Christmas tree tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 17), at 9:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to help decorate is welcome. Twenty-five gift request cards from children at Tanager Place will be hanging on the tree Sunday. If you would like to participate, please take a card and then put your name on the sign-up sheets by the tree so we can keep track of the cards selected and gifts returned. Then bring your UNWRAPPED gifts, with card attached, to UCR by Sunday, December 9.

INTER-RELIGIOUS SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 19

The Inter-Religious Council is holding its annual Thanksgiving service on Monday, November 19, at Christ Episcopal Church, 220 40th Street NE. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m. and anyone wishing to sing with the choir can arrive at 5:30 for rehearsal. This event is a fundraiser for the Linn County Food Bank. Those attending can make cash donations or bring food for this worthy cause.

In support of the Inter-Religious Council's food drive, UnityCR will also collect donations of cash and non-perishable food items. Please bring your contributions to UCR through December 16. Also, new stuffed animals can be donated at Unity beginning November 25 through December 16.

BOARD NOMINEES SOUGHT

Two of our beloved board members, Paula Land and Don Epley, are coming to the end of their first three-year term. This means that there will be two board positions open for election at our annual meeting on January 27. As per the bylaws, a nominating committee has been formed. We are looking for vibrant, enthusiastic folks who have a desire to make a difference in our church community. Anyone who wishes to be considered for nomination may contact Verne Eggleston, Polly Gould, Beth Parker or Rev. brenda before November 28th.

SUSAN'S SALON IS THIS SUNDAY

Please join us this Sunday in Sacred Grounds and books at 9 a.m. for our monthly discussion group. ALL ARE WELCOME to drop in and pastries will be served! Our topic this Sunday will be keeping our center (peace), while the storms of life swirl around us. This is one more of the basic premises of Gary Simmon's book, "I of The Storm", which is being used in a current UCR class.
