This Sunday we will celebrate Men & Women's Day with a Breakfast at 8:00am in the MultiPurpose Center and the Worship Service at 11:00am in the church sanctuary.  On May 22nd we will celebrate with St.Paul United Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas at 3:00pm on their 150th Anniversary.  I am honored to bring the message at that Service.

Please see the church bulletins for graduation, Senior citizen, and other auxiliary meetings during the month.

And also, remember to keep our sick and shut-in members in prayer.

              WE'RE CHOSEN

According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.  (Ephesians 1:4)

When I was younger I would go to our high school gymnasium during the summer months and engage in pick up basketball.  One player would select persons to be on his side and another player would do the same for his side.  I was always glad when I was chosen to play.  It meant that the person making the selection believed that I could contribute to his side.

Evangelical Christians have a similar belief that God "chose" us before the foundation of the world.  His basis for choosing was foreseen faith on the part of believers.

It is referred to as the "Doctrine of Election."  God foreknew before we were born who would choose Him and who would not.  Because He could see throughout the tunnel of time into the future, He knew that I would accept Jesus Christ as my Savior during my lifetime.  Although it was my accepting of Christ as my Savior, it was really God who chose me.  That means that I am assured a place in Heaven at my passing.  For that I am eternally grateful.

If you are a believer, aren't you glad that "You Were Chosen?"
