THE LORD WANTS YOU!
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)
Many of us remember when the United States Army displayed a recruitment poster which stated: "Uncle Sam Wants You!" The poster also depicted an elderly man pointing his finger at the person viewing it . The man had a large top hat on with a blue band and a white star on it. Every time we saw that poster we really believed that he was speaking directly to us.
Before "Uncle Sam" directed his appeal to us, the Bible tells us that Jesus came for the very purpose of expressing His desire to seek and to save us. Jesus wants all of us to be saved. We should remember that it was the Lord who initiated His saving purpose and without such, man cannot be saved. God loves all men and wishes to save as many as possible.
The doctrine of election holds that "GOD CHOSE US" whom He knew would accept Him. Therein lies the problem for many who are not saved. They have not agreed to accept "His" offer to be saved. With "salvation" comes so many benefits and this message does not have the time and space to elaborate on them.
We don't see posters any more that state "Uncle Sam Wants You." But the Word of God is still fresh and clear. Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost. In other words, "Jesus Wants Us!"
